While this hotel is on the other side of the bridge at Borgarnes it is a lovely location and well worth the stop off. The rooms are quite small but clean and as you are only sleeping after a long day driving size is immaterial. It is very cosy and a real bonus is the hot tub and sauna access for guests. Breakfast is included and is a nice selection on cereals and cold foods with warm drinks available all day,
This hotel offers relaxing outdoor hot tubs, an 18-hole golf course and activities such as whale watching and snowmobile safaris. Reykjavik and Snæfellsnes National Park are a 1-hour drive away.

Quiet location with helpful staff. The front desk guy was calling rooms to alert people (per their request) about the Northern Lights. He even helped us adjust our iPhone camera so that we could get a decent picture. Beautiful breakfast room and view. Nice selection of food ranging from Icelandic to European treats. I would highly recommend this hotel as it is one of the better options in the area, which felt a little remote. But that's what we wanted as we thought our chance of seeing the Northern Lights would be better.

Beautifully decorated home (all rooms including the toilet!) with a fully equipped kitchen. We stayed in the small twin room which fitted a small square table, a chair and a large bedside cabinet. The beds were comfortable and the shower/toilet was the most well furnished of all the places we stayed in Iceland - large sink, coat hanger and a bamboo chair! There was even a dog to play with in the cafe below :-)
The apartment - Öbbuhús is situated in Borgarnes and offers a terrace and a bar. This apartment has a garden and free private parking.

Wonderfully secluded cottage in the middle of the countryside. Well situated for trips to Snaefellsnes. Very friendly and nice hosts living on with their farm next door. Possibility to book a guided horse ride with one of their icelandic horses, which was a magical experience!
The cottage was well equipped, clean and absolutely cozy. We really enjoyed our stay here and can fully recommend!

Clean and new room with a nice view from the shared kitchen. We luckily had it all to ourselves which made a difference. Owner warned us for the bad weather ahead which prepared us better for what was still to come.

Apartment was one of several at the rear of the owner's cafe. It was situated above the cafe which gave views across the fjord and the adjoining hills. As it was self catering, the amenities were good and a discount was offered if you used the cafe. It is situated on the edge of the town of Borgarnes, with a coastal footpath around the district, a short distance away.
There are local museums within walking distance.
We spent our time in Borgarnes. Especially enjoyed the Settlement Center museum. The museum comes with audio guides and is divided into two parts. Historical and folk lore (Sagas). Each takes about 30 minutes. Ate at the restaurant in the Center and it was outstanding. Best mussels I’ve every had. Did a shirt walking tour if the old town too. City also has full service groceries and gas stations and bakery. Not all towns in Iceland have this.

We were staying here on our way back from the western fjords...
We were staying here on our way back from the western fjords, it was nice and relaxing there was plenty to see in a relatively small area. We liked the waterfalls at Hraunfossar and Barnafossar but found them much busier than what we had got used to in the Western Fjords.
There are plenty of restaurants in the area and there are options for most price ranges.
