Are we in paradise or Eden? We can imagine looking on to the waters a world without humankind other than an occasional fishing boat passing by. We turn our backs and look towards the resort designed in a U shape with an excellent integration of traditional crafted architecture.

The property is in a beautiful location overlooking the backwaters. Clean and spacious home with everything you need. The owner and her family are especially lovely, her youngest daughter even taught us how to catch a fish in the river. The owner can organise any tours or boat rides you want. River fish is caught in the evening and served for dinner with delicious accompaniments. Breakfast is also very good.

The evening shikara ride was great for our group and was at the right price point - 2000 rupees for 2 hours for 2 families. The bird sanctuary was a big disappointment as there is not much to see and the facilities are also very poor - of the two bird watching towers one is damaged and other does not have a great view. Not many species of birds could be seen or heard, its more of a nature walk than a bird sanctuary.

As soon as we arrived it felt like Paradise.
As soon as we arrived it felt like Paradise. As the gates shut the noise and hustle bustle of an Indian town were left outside.
The beautiful old buildings in heritage style, lovely garden with trees and the only sound that of birdsong. It didn’t end there. All the staff from Vaisakh the Manager, Amal the Chef, the lady helping in the kitchen and the lady constantly sweeping the floors and working in the garden were helpful, courteous and always had a cheerful smile. The two men were happy to enter into conversations with us when they were not busy. They also responded immediately when asked for anything.
The food was delicious and well cooked but they found it amusing that we couldn’t handle the chillis in some of the dishes.
The pool was clean and cool and very welcoming in the heat.
We spent a very happy and relaxing week at Brookside Heritage Resort and it was the best place to start our Kerala adventure after a long and arduous journey from the UK. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We will definitely be back.

We stayed in a property that gave us half-board meals (dinner and breakfast) and had in-house activities such as a sunset boat cruise and an evening cultural show. All this reinforced the kerala theme and made for a wonderful experience.

The backwaters are unique with water lilies and a wide variety of birds that can be viewed in a Shikara at dawn. A houseboat to spend the day and enjoy local cuisine served using fresh fish caught and sold by fisherwomen on the banks is a fabulous experience.

Kumarakom is a lovely back water locality, away from the hustle bustle of the city. Its a relaxing environment where you can disconnect from the busy world outside and yet if you need to get back to it, it's just nearby.
Low quality build with little attention to detail.
Swimming pool was bug ridden and with exposed wiring.
Sun loungers were limited and felt like this hotel should be a lot better from the listing, and for the high cost we paid.
Had much better accommodation for half the cost of this place.
The bar is hidden in a sweaty dark room, not good for a social drink. No refreshments available, water provided in rooms.
Food was lovely.
Good location and friendly staff let down by the poor quality accommodation.
Very good breakfast with lots of options (both European and Indian). Freshly cooked eggs to order. Beautiful setting, good facilities and a lovely pool all very well kept. Comfortable room and nice bathroom, with both aircon (essential) and a fan in the bedroon We also had a pretty balcony.
The restaurant offers a good selection of well cooked, tasty food - although it should be noted, that as in many places in Kerala, the hotel is dry The staff are all very smiley and welcoming.
Property is located right at the lakefront and quite affordable. Also, staff keeps it clean and the surroundings are very peaceful with only nature sounds. Staff is also very friendly and arranged food even late at night during lockdown. The manager upgraded me to a lakeside cottage for free so that I get the best experience, being a traveller. Also, they arranged for a boat ride in the lake which picked me up right from the property. Overall, a great experience at minimal price!
This property had everything you could ask for
Grounds - kept perfectly

Restaurant - good choice of food, wonderful staff and excellent standard of food
Afternoon tea and sunset boat trip are a lovely end to perfect days by the river.
Spa - treatments are fantastic and staff lovely
Reception - all staff are kind and professional. Nothing is too much trouble they go above and beyond throughout the hotel.
- lovely view of backwaters
- free on site activities such as badminton, archery, bicycling, swimming pool
- free tea time from 4.30pm-5.30pm serving chai and some snacks like banana fritters
- location was clean, nice and quiet
- lakeroom view was spacious and very comfortable
- spa facilities available even though we did not use it.
- ability to pay for room using international card
Extremely bad experience. This stay was a gift to a couple and the guest was charged the day they checked in. Inspite of making alternate payment the money collected from the couple was not refunded for 2 days. The manager at the facility did not meet the guest inspite of requesting to meet the manager 3 times. Emails to the hotel went unanswered. Would not recommend
this property has a wonderful ambience and the location is superb. The views from our room and all of the facilities is of the glorious lagoon with the lake beyond. There’s a wonderful restaurant, very nice work out facility and thriving Ayurvedic spa treatment area. There’s also a happy hour from 5 to 7 which is very good value in a lovely bar overlooking the lake.
Being a heritage hotel it had feel of the tradition and culture of the place. The food was absolutely amazing and chef Revi made amazing food with some local fish dishes like "currymeen". The manager of the property Mr. Soji was very cooperative and made us feel at home. Absolutely amazing experience.
The pool was really nice and the way it was located right by the lake looks so beautiful when the sun sets.
Food was really good although the variety of the breakfast buffet could have been better.
The staff at the hotel was very nice and helpful.
Beautiful resort by the lake. The rooms are big and super clean. The staff is extremely amicable and will always greet you with a broad smile. The sunset view is beautiful. The breakfast was delicious. The hotel serves great South Indian food.
In the heart of Kumarakom its one of the best homestay to enjoy and relax with your family and friends with beautiful paddy field in its backyard and backwaters as your front view. Friendly young staff 24/7 for your help and need.
We had a great time at Mango Kerala Homes. The rooms are super clean and confortable. The area is very beautiful, perfect for visiting the backwaters. The owners are very kind and helpful.
The Resort is at one of the beautiful spots in Kerala. The ambience is too good to spent some amazing time with Family or Friends. Great food, activities and overall it's well maintained.
location, views, wonderful staff, awesome spa, best seafood restaurant. they offer many activities, including great 4 hour houseboat tour, motor boat tour, village tours.
Great staff, very friendly, kind, and accommodating. A nice houseboat cruise through the canals and backwaters. The food was very good and more than plentiful.
