The Spencer Hotel, hotel in Dublin

Overlooking the River Liffey, The Spencer Hotel is 10 minutes from the famous O'Connell Bridge and 20 minutes from the Temple Bar and Grafton Street.

My friend and I arrived at the hotel at 11am due to our flight times. We asked to leave our bags at the hotel while we explored the city and to our surprise the lady at the desk gave us our room. This was one of the highlights and very appreciated as check in time is usually 4pm and it was great to have a room this early. We were then able to use the spa early. The hotel is in a great location - a very quiet area on the weekends as it’s the business district, but only a short 15 min walk to the centre of Dublin where the shops are. Also only a 10 min walk to Connolly station.

FAQs about hotels in Dublin

Great History, Greenery and Pubs

Dublin is home to more than a quarter of the entire Republic of Ireland’s population and was originally founded as a Viking settlement. A lot has changed from those Viking days, and Dublin is now famous for its literary history and the most green-spaces of any other European capital, making Dublin a real Irish gem.

Dublin Castle is at the heart of the city's history and Trinity College holds the renowned Book of Kells, a beautifully illustrated manuscript from circa 800 AD. The Ha’penny Bridge is the city’s most photographed landmark and the statue of Molly Malone celebrates the heroine of Dublin’s unofficial anthem.

Dublin is home to many important literary figures including Oscar Wilde, William Yeats, Samuel Beckett and George Bernard Shaw. As the famous location of James Joyce’s “Ulysses”, the city offers tours tracing the protagonist’s footsteps.

Being one of the most youthful European cities, Dublin has a vibrant nightlife scene with the popular Temple Bar area and plenty of bars and pubs, which invite you to stay out until the wee hours of the morning.

The Dublin Airport is the gateway to your Irish holiday, so whether you’re looking for a stylish hotel, a self-catering apartment or a trendy hostel, Booking.com has a perfect deal for your Dublin trip.

There was a lovely early autumnal atmosphere when I left the Concert Hall as it was a warm balmy night. Lots of people were spilling out of the venue and as I left St. Stephen's Green, laughter and song drifted from pubs and restaurants along Merrion Row. I was wondering why all the food outlets and supermarkets were closed by half ten, as I had not had a chance to eat between work and going to the wonderful evening event. I had almost given up hope, when I saw this tiny kebab place on Baggot Street. What a great spot! Great chat too with the person behind the counter. It made my night and the food was delicious! Sometimes the unexpected is a joy. But then Dublin has always been like that. Just when you are totally fed up with the city, a few moments of pure magic happen.

We travelled for our 10 yr wedding anniversary and loved it! We travelled to theses towns/cities in order and stayed one night at each place. Dublin, Kinsale, Portmagee, Killarney, Kiltacky Boston, Galway, Dublin. It was alot of driving but wouldn't have done it any other way! Much nicer to see Ireland at our own pace and not be stuck with a tourist group! Learning to drive on other side of road was a little difficult at first but didn't take long to get the hang of it.

Done many visits over the past 18 years and have always enjoyed being there. I found it more expensive this time and the city area itself seemed rather tired, dirty and neglected in several areas. Standards in hotel and restaurants were variable, some definitely better than others. Dublin has good transport links throughout the city and to and from the airport. Didn’t visit any tourist attractions this time as been to most before.

I am from Dublin but haven't visited in a long time. It is now very tourist orientated but I didn't mind that and enjoyed it. Irish people do hospitality very well and I appreciated being on the receiving end and was very proud of them, being with friends.

Loved Dublin, could always spend more time, but altogether it was 5 days, the last day was at the end of a long bus ride, so cannot count as a full day. We were on tour initially and stayed in the middle of town across from Christchurch cathedral which was a terrific location!

There was so much to see in Dublin, we could have used a few more days to explore. Without a car we recommend the hop on hop off tour to get your bearings of the town. Could have used a 2 day pass to be able to experience more of the city. We went to Trinity College and the Book of Kells which is a must see. Unfortunately due to lack of time, we didn't do the walking tour of the campus. We were able to visit the Dublin Castle and Christ Church Cathedral which were both amazing.

Central location near a lot of tourist attractions, restaurants, shopping areas, hospitals etc. Like most city centres you need to careful at night. I got street parking across the road from the hotel at the weekend. Comfortable bed and a nice room. Breakfast was superb and included in my rate which was great value for money in Dublin. Nice bar and dining room on the ground floor. Complimentary water, tea & coffee facilities in the room. Overall a good experience.
