I grew up in Drogheda for over 18 years so naturally i am totally biased as this is a very historic town and the river Boyne has been within reach since childhood with places like Baltray, Terminfechin and Clougherhead memorable haunts.
The reason for staying at the D was convenient for all of my family members to visit. My usual place to sstay when "HOME" is with my sister but unfortunately she can no longer drive.

Drogheda is an historical town set between Dublin and...
Drogheda is an historical town set between Dublin and Dundalk on the east coast of Ireland. It has a mainline station and a busy bus station providing connections to the main cities, regional centres and local places.
The town is busy with plenty of places to eat, meet friends and have coffee. People are welcoming and interested in stories from abroad (in my case, London) and also like hearing what is going on up the coast (Dundalk) and in Dublin.
There are some great 'curiosities' in Drogheda (historical sites & quaint shops) and most of all it's a stone's throw from Dublin, making it a convenient place for international travel and further exploration of particularly the east coast of Ireland.
Because it's not Dublin, the cost of accommodation is considerably more economical, with a slightly more laid-back feel and good efficiency.
I particularly liked the buses and even got a free ride when I got on the wrong one (something which rarely happens to me in London!).
I’ve now been to this hotel 3 out of the 4 times I’ve been to Ireland and traveling north. It is a beautiful location right next to the Boyne River and shopping mall which is ATTACHED to the hotel, on days when the rain is a pain you can just enter through the lobby of the hotel into either Hops Bar or Goodwins restaurant. I didn’t use this option, but you can! The staff is always super friendly and as accommodating as they can be with most things and I simply just love it here! Can’t honestly say enough good things about it! 🤗
It is set in the heart of Drogheda steeped in history.
The hotel is 150 yo and you feel like you're in an Agatha Christie novel( without the murder bit) . It's extraordinarily clean, with no smells. Fab shower and lovely and warm room.
Anna on reception, couldn't be more helpful ( give that girl a crown) . In fact all staff were courteous and lovely, well done Scholars!
We didn't eat there but had a peep at the dining room which looked beautiful.
Very comfortable. Very clean. Very nice. Good facilities. Nice powerful walkin shower which was great.Nice bed very comfortable 👌.
Great location, bus stop right outside house.
Breakfast set up was fantastic and well presented, nice Irish breakfast(just the way i like it, sets you up for the day)Owner very pleasant and engaging in conversation. Great house. If I'm ever in Drogheda again for the night that's the place I would stay again 😊 😃
What did I like...? The fact that Drogheda has a couple of centrally-located shopping centres, so you can go to the toilet and wash your hands...The whole experience at this place was marred by NO WATER. Staff were pleasant (despite not seeming to care that there was no water); location was up a little hill from Drogheda, nice location; the bed was comfortable and there was a curtain for privacy.
It was our first time in Drogheda, we didn't know where to stay. We got lucky with the hotel. Great location, 5 minutes to the sea, lovely place, cosy, clean, there is a small courtyard. Kitchen with all cooking utensils, cooker and various electronic appliances, very convenient. Of course we will come again to this place, see you there! 💗
Loved the beautiful location on the beach and the features of the house. The layout of the house is perfect for groups traveling together. The kitchen and gathering area was very large for accommodating group activities such as games, eating, drinking, etc. the location was beautiful and very conveniently located between Dublin and Belfast.
Comfortable B&B outside the business area of Drogheda. Chose this location for our last night in Ireland and it’s close proximity to Dublin Airport. Maya gave a good overview of our room and its features. Several options available for breakfast, along with a breakfast bar of packaged croissants, yogurts, fresh fruit, cereals and breads.
Inside the hotel feels like a beachy golf resort. The carpets and paint are all clearly fresh, the room was impeccably decorated and had an exceptionally comfortable bed. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and professional. Breakfast was a highlight as well. I genuinely only have positive things to say about my stay here.
good location
wonderful and helpful hosts
breakfast was delicious and an overwhelming amount
we had a medical emergency and needed prescription filled and Michele and Arthur arranged for the filling and even picked up the medication for us (having arrived tired and ignorant of the area)
Fantastic place and hosts!
The room was comfortable, breakfast with absolutely sufficient selection. But 2 things I particularly liked: 1) a bar with a really nice red ale and a super good local whiskey by name Slane. 2) Super cool Irish mood in the hotel.
Quiet area with helpful host. Easy checkin. About a 10-20 min walk to area with restaurants and pubs Nice place to stay for early flight out of Dublin…about 30 min drive.
Often staying here when I am in Drogheda. Always excellent. Very peaceful in a period building with greenish front yard/terrace. Very centrally located. Clean and comfy.
Michelle and Arthur were friendly hosts, who made us very welcome. They have a lovely home, situated well for visiting any of the Boyne Valley sights or Drogheda.
Excellent full Irish breakfast. The owners were fantastic. The location was close to the railway station and close to Drogheda Town centre and local amenities.
