Great warm welcome from Declan. Amazing sea view from our bedroom. Breakfast was continental, as expected. Gorgeous fresh orange juice, fruit salad, scrumptious granola, yogurt, delicious brown bread and fresh filter coffee. Enough to keep you going all day.
The open fire in the evening was a really nice touch.
Declan, Odhran and Josephine were incredibly helpful & friendly.

Beautifull Ocean View cottage . Views amazing and beach just down the road , always accompanied by a sheep , was such a lovely stay . Cottage was clean and everything we needed , comfy beds plenty of towels, t towels etc , plenty cutlery, pots and pans . Microwave , washing machine.
Open fire which was perfect at night time when it got chilly added to the whole scenery. Nearest shop is in keel about 10 min drive so stock up when ya go . 😁 Even the drive to shop is breath taking . And Val was so nice , gave us all the info . Was the perfect few days away for complete relaxation and forget about your worries. Just Chill 😎 and doggies allowed 🐶 which our little one loved her daily walks on the beach .

Fantastic location. Not too remote but not too built up either. The cottage has a lovely sea view and is very cosy. We needed the heating on some of the time to dry our wet clothes and the cottage is very warm and snug. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They made it clear they were there if we needed them.
Doogort was peaceful and so relaxing. There weren't any shops open while we were there over Easter, which was lovely. There might be more open during the summer. If we needed food we headed to Keel. The Beach Hotel in Doogort was open at the weekend and there were plenty of people in the bar but it closed again once Monday came.
There are a few places to eat on the island, Mastersons bar being the closest. There is also a great wee place called Pure Magic which did lovely pizzas. The drive to Keel doesn't take long and has a few more bars and restaurants.
If you want a quiet break with breathtaking scenery you're going to the right place.
A drive to Keem Bay is definitely worth it but try to go early/late to avoid the crowds. We saw a seal coming out of the water and basking sharks not too far out in the sea.

Beautiful surroundings and drives
Beautiful surroundings and drives
We were there in November, and everything around us was closed, but we knew that from previous visits.
Just be aware, in November, the nearest takeaway and off license is in Achill Sound, and the nearest shop is in keel.
Would highly recommend the Beehive for lunch/cake and further out the the road, Gieltys for dinner...plus they run as shuttle bus.
Make time to visit Achill Sea Salt and the Aquarium...they're both quite small, but have loads packed into them!
