Loved the quaint little town and the shops, restaurants and pubs available to us. Also, the grocery store was very well stocked and the SPAR there had laundry facilities that we so badly needed to use.

Plenty of excellent restaurants in Clifden from mid-price to expensive. Great coffee and snacks available at very reasonable prices. Good shopping and excellent craft/art/souvenir shops in the town. Beautiful Church with small but sincere congregation. Lovely clean town, adequate parking available.

There is so much to see. I'm a walker and we were able to access many great walks - mountain, sea and forest walks. We had a car to get to locations. Good location for exploring Connemara. Fabulous scenery. Plenty places to eat in the evenings.

A beautiful area in the National Park.
A beautiful area in the National Park. The little town centre was quite vibrant for such a remote area and lots of independent cafes and shops It was possible to do manageable walks (even for us oldies)

Cliftden was great with plenty of places to eat and drink.
Cliftden was great with plenty of places to eat and drink. There is a very well stocked supermarket in the town and the surroundings were very clean and well maintained. Getting a local taxi was a bit of a problem so we had to drive everywhere, which didn't allow us to have a drink in the town as our accommadation was about 3 miles outside the village.
The location is excellent - overlooking Mannin beach, the sea and mountains - its a very picturesque are of Galway/Ireland
Its 10 minutes from Clifden (great Restaurants & Pubs there) and also close to the Roundstone and the fabulous Dogs Bay beach
The breakfast choice was very good and cooked to order.
The staff are really friendly and helpful - there is an onsite Spa service also
The room we had was really large - it had 2 bedrooms and a separate living room with TV
The hotel is in the centre of Cliften very convenient to all Cliften has to offer and close to the sky road beautiful looped walk 15 minute drive to Connemara national park one af the most scenic areas of Ireland ihave ever visited staying thank to all the staff Witt alcock and brown made everything so easy would recommend this hotel to any one for a relaxing stay thanks you to all staff especially Sasha and nightporter james
The cottage is picturesquely and conveniently located just outside the town of Clifden. It's location (just off the main road) means you have easy access to the Westport - Galway Road, as well as to the town, without all the traffic noise. The bedrooms are a good size and comfortable and the kitchen and utility are adequately equipped for short stays, where guests are likely to eat out a portion of the time.
Stuart and Ruth’s accommodations are perfect! The home is in a beautiful location, wonderfully decorated with incredible memorabilia, and so very clean. The breakfast is amazing- best we have had in our three weeks travelling around Ireland and the UK. We definitely recommend that anyone planning on visiting the Clifden area make it a point to stay at Hillside Lodge- you won’t be disappointed!
Firstly the location is perfect, in that the hotel is facing the sea and is a 9 mins drive from Clifden. The ambience is warm, welcoming and calm and the décor exudes taste and flair for beauty. Reception/hotel/restaurant staff are friendly and more than helpful.
We had a superb few days at Ardagh House and hope to return soon too.
What a lovely place to stay. It was only for one night and we wished we could have stayed longer. It was warm and spacious. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped. The fresh flowers was a lovely touch. It’s about 10 minutes drive from the gorgeous town of Clifden. This is such a beautiful part of Ireland.
Secluded in a scenic area, close to town and within walking distance to lovely Clifden. The staff, especially GM Ronan, are extremely friendly and attentive to all guests. Guests look and act, relaxed, and sociable. The dining room and bar are picturesque and welcoming.
Great location, plenty of room in the two room apartment with balcony. The most reasonably priced of its kind in the town as some are extortionate now. Would really recommend as we are very familiar with Clifden and the area so this place was ideal.
Enjoyed all Amenities & we walked Omey island tide out ... climbed Diamond Hill ... did sky loop road... visited shops in Clifden. Lovely all round stay .. choice if bar food or hotel food. Variety in town itself too. Plenty to enjoy ... 👏👏👏👏
Rita greeted us at the door with a smile and was very welcoming- The cottage was even nicer than the photos- very clean and comfortable.
A nice walkable distance from town- only a slight hill- and we loved the live music and food in Clifden
Apartment style setting in a room with a skylight, king size bed and large tv and a small kitchen across the hall. It was clean and comfortable. Very well supplied and an attentive host. We wished we had stayed longer to explore Clifden!
Room was nice and comfortable. It was just a short walk to the cliffs. Location was a few minutes outside of Clifden, but a fairly easy drive during daylight hours. Wouldn't recommend making the drive in the dark. Breakfast was good.
This is a fantasic hotel right on the main street in Clifden. There are so many cosy places to sit and relax, the restaurant is excellent, and the staff were superb. We felt so relaxed and comfortable afer a two night stay.
Nothing - The owner was extremely difficult and non accommodating. We had to book another hotel for the night because all the amenities were unavailable. I'm honestly baffled at how this hotel has good reviews.
The hotel was great. Clean, comfortable, and in the centre of Clifden. The stuff was great. Helpful in every thing I need. Thank you so very much. I'll definitely tell my friends, and will come again .
We stayed in BnB's almost exclusively during our 2 weeks in Ireland and the Buttermilk was hands down the best of all. The room was lovely, breakfast out of this world and easy walk to town.
Lovely host, delicious breakfast and great location for golf, Pony Trekking on the beach, Kylemore Abbey, Connemara National Park, Sky Road and much more. A truly gorgeous part of Ireland!
The town was very nice and everything was within walking distance. The best of all was the Irish pub across the street from the hotel with great live music every night.
