The Shirley Arms Hotel, hotel in Castleblayney

The 4-star Shirley Arms Hotel is located in the market town of Carrickmacross, South Monaghan. It boasts elegant rooms decorated in luxury fabrics, free Wi-Fi and a fine dining restaurant.

We required a twin room and the property kindly was able to accommodate this even though we initially booked a double. The staff were super helpful and made our stay very comfortable. Due to mobility issues it was great to have everything so close within the hotel and near the hotel. Supermarket next door and plenty of other shops.

I loved the offer of a free breakfast, I was just in a rush that morning so, didn't have time to enjoy it properly. I did grab a croissant on my way out and it was lovely to have for my walk to the bus. The bed was really comfy and the house has a really welcoming feel. I was contacted by the owner to let me know that the address on booking.com is incorrect and they gave me the correct directions. Hopefully the website will let them update it soon..

I was just there for the night as I have to join a bus going to the one-day pilgrimage to Lough Derg the following morning. It was my first time in Castleblayney I did not know anyone there but I felt safe as the hotel staff and the people I met during my stay were lovely. Food was nice; location was handy; I just have to walk up 5 minutes to the meeting point. Probably next time I would stay a bit longer and go visit the tourist attractions in Castleblayney.

the location is good. I didn’t mind the vintage interior however the deteriorating walls, floors and furniture made me question our choices. but it was warm and cozy nevertheless. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was very good.
