Everything! The house is incredible 😲. It was spotlessly clean and had everything we could have possible needed during our stay. The house was huge and fitted everyone in our party 6 adults 2 children. The beds were extremely comfortable and we all slept well. The views were incredible. The nature was insane. We seen deer, bats and amazing variety of birds. We would love to go back!

The Landmark Hotel, hotel in Ballyfarnon

Overlooking the River Shannon, this stylish, 4-star hotel is located in the beautiful riverside town of Carrick-on-Shannon.

Great location, plenty of free parking. Lovely public areas to sit. Loved the ice creams, what a great idea. All the staff were welcoming particularly the breakfast lady from Boyle (sorry can’t remember her name) who always found time for a chat.

Great place to stay.We spent a night in one of the castle rooms and had a beautiful view of the lake. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was amazing! The whole stay was very relaxing. The staff were excellent too. We spent the morning before breakfast down at the pool and the jacuzi, sauna - was lovely and went for a walk around the lake. It was perfect getaway for us.

Hotel is not for families pool not great for kids and very quiet for us the hotel is for older couples we stayed 1 night and it was plenty didn't eat in it as far too expensive for family with kids and menu not suitae for kids so we drove to carrick on Shannon to eat kids were starving at this point breakfast was OK but no beans which kids love I wouldn't recommend for families and as young couple it's very quiet to drink in bars

Ballyfarnon is just a small village with one pub and two convenience shops (one with petrol pumps) Two larger towns Boyle and Carrick On Shannon are roughly a twenty minute drive away to each. Kilronan Castle is about a mile outside of the village.

Check in was flawless, all staff lovely. Breakfast nice.

Check in was flawless, all staff lovely. Breakfast nice. Rooms lovely. Could do with a foyer to meet others. We were a group that travelled from different areas to meet for a special occasion some in the group had traveled for a few hours so a communal area would have been nice. Really liked the Gothic feel of the interior, Dinner booked for a 50th wedding anniversary was terrible. The food was mediocre at best. The service was so bad some members of the dinner party didn't even get a main course. After 2 1/2 exhausting hours we left without even taking dessert. No one made any attempt to improve the service with any queries we made meeting us with blank stares, Not sure what is the background story is with the evening catering but it shouldn't spill over into the dining room. The meals are too expensive to justify this service.

The hotel is fabulous from the moment you drive through the entrance, it’s like going back in time and staying in a grand castle. The breakfast is delicious and the bar food in the evening was also delicious. We spent a few hours in the thermal suite and also had a treatment which was so relaxing. Definitely the best hotel I’ve stayed in.

Nothing worth seeing virtually no shops.

Nothing worth seeing virtually no shops. Went into Boyle and the only tourist attraction, The Connaught Rangers museum was closed until April, very disappointed on the plus side the tea room at the museum was lovely, great coffee and food.
