Our hosts at Blue Emocean, Andrew and Anne, are a credit to the tourism industry in Indonesia, from their ongoing efforts to mitigate any negative impacts that come with running a resort through to their restoration work on the local environment, and their commitment to promoting sustainability whereever possible. Their pets Frank the young rescue deer, Dotty the miniature dachshund and Meow the cat provided much humor.
The resort is in a stunning location, about fifty minutes stroll or a short motorbike ride from the village and port. A great place to relax and forget all about the stresses of life back home. The availability of cold beers was much appreciated. Various tours including diving, snorkeling and waterfall trips can be arranged by Andrew and Anne, or you can snorkel out in front of the resort.

Lovely little bungalows on the front, very close to the port, perfect for relaxing and switching off. Gina, the owner, was really helpful, especially for advice on how to get the boat to Moyo and for buses on Sumbawa/Lombok. Good breakfasts and lunch/dinner too.
There is good snorkeling directly from the beach and even better a bit further out with a fisherman's boat, which Gina also organised - thank you!

Breakfast was great. Fantastic pool. Friendly and helpful staff, especially Denny who helped us out with various things from when we first arrived until our departure.

We really enjoyed our 6 night stay at Sunset Moyo. Jeff was helpful, chatty and welcoming. The setting was beautiful, right at the water’s edge, with good snorkelling (at high tide) from the beach. The villas with sea views that were the ‘highest spec’ accommodation were very comfortable, with AC and lovely attention to detail. Sounds of tokay geckos overhead and a coral floor bathroom added to the rustic charm. So easy to relax and unwind - steps from the restaurant, the sea and the sun loungers. We enjoyed snorkelling and diving trips and a trip to Mata Jitu waterfall too.
Moyo is relatively untouched, the snorkelling and diving trips are brilliant!

Samawa Seaside Resort is located in Tanjung Manangis, just opposite Moyo Island Sumbawa Besar. Surrounded by greenery and white sands, it offers private cottages with ocean views.
Very friendly people in the village.
Visited the waterfalls on foot...very beautiful. Lots of butterflies and monkeys. Saw two wild bore and buffaloes as well as two snakes .
And Gun...our host kindly repaired my partner's favourite old rucksack and wouldn't accept any payments.

The water was sensational - warm, clear and clean, which in turn means fish and coral. The island has limited electricity which means limited refrigeration and wifi ( AND tourists, there were 15 when we where there) but that just added to the charm. The local villagers were extremely kind and their knowledge of their natural environment is generally encyclopaedic. This is an extremely special place and we were very lucky to have the opportunity to spend time there. Drop into the markets in Sumbawa before you go and load up on fresh fruit and vegies ( these are in limited supply on the island). Also take plenty of cash the other attraction of Mojo is no ATM or banking facilities. Take photos and leave footprints.
