The best thing about Velence lake and its surroundings is that there is minimum of foreign tourists, because they all drive to Balaton, Budapest etc.
The majority of holidaymakers are locals.
Its also a good destination for cyclists who can bike around the lake and visit villages nearby.
The lake itself is very shallow (good for nonswimmers) with healing stinky mud on the lake bottom (suitable for skin problems).

Lake Velence - the better option if you plan to enjoy Lake...
Lake Velence - the better option if you plan to enjoy Lake Balaton area. From here you can even visit Budapest by train. Activities like bike tours around the lake, bird spotting or enjoying secret beaches (not the main one) will make your stay an exciting time

Excellent apartment in Velence Spa complex. Very easy to get into the room (lock box). Great communication with the host (in English). The apartment was very clean, well furnished & kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed all the little details that the host provided for our ultimate comfort.
Great views from the terrace, apartment is very spacious and well furnished, beds were comfy, no issues at all. We stayed as a group of 4 adults and 1 baby and we had plenty of room.
It was a one night stay on my way through Hungary. The house is located very close to highway, near to Budapest.
I booked the room 4 h in advance only, but the reservation was confirmed, and when I arrived my room was ready.
I was really impressed how clean the house is and linen is fresh!
The host is very polite and hospitable, it was pleasure to meet him.
I can definitely recommend this place for short and long stay.
Nice, spacious rooms, pleasant view over Lake Velence, kettle, microwave, electric hobs, pots and pans, cutlery provided. Bathrobe for spa. Very helpful staff, kind, we were given extra towels too.
Location, big room, very close to the swimming pools - it is not necessary to leave the building, a lot of attractions for kids e.g slides for kids in the hotel.
