A small wonderful town right on the water. It is super crowded on the beach but if you don’t mind that it’s worth it. Wonderful restaurants and beautiful walking areas in town. Amazing old buildings and a very charming old town. Perfect for a few days getaway. The water is crystal clear and the food is delicious. Everyone speaks English and people are friendly. There are playgrounds for small children and lots of fun in the water for older kids like pedal boats, jetskis and “jumping areas” out in the water. Perfect for families.
But don’t forget the sunscreen! 😀 ☀️

We loved the two beaches we went to. The old town is lovely, and we love staying in it. Surrounding shops and facilities have everything you need, they are close and easy to access.

They developed the services a lot, really good small pebble covered beach in a huge bay protected from high winds by Brac island in front of the bay. Many good restaurants, OK parking, nice port with old buildings in great condition. The apartments are usually higher up on a steep mountain side, providing a harder walk but a better view :)
We drove over from the opposite side of the Adriatic sea, so we could compare it with the Italian side (Jesolo area), and the prices were almost the same, the pebble beach maybe better (at least clearer water than the sandy beach across), less windy, but still missing the happiness coming from the Italian people, and the highest quality in food and entertainment, Croatia a bit more laid back, things are not a smoothly organized as on the Italian Adria. The only thing really bothersome is the restaurant stuff coming over a few seconds after you start reading the menu placed in front of their places. They do not give you any time to read it through. I know in some countries they do this, but I always leave when they do not give me time to choose based on the menu.

Makarska is a smaller town, but you find most of what you need. Do not expect big malls. There is however one shopping mall that covers electronics, clothes, shoes and other items.
You find a nice harbour, some churches, a local market.
There are plenty of restaurants there, something for everybody.
There are many water activities and things to do, excursions with boats, jetski... The water is super clean and clear.

I have visited the city of Makarska many times. I love it there, despite the long journey (from Slovakia). I like everything about Makarska, from the delicious smell of the bakery, to the number of people who "mingle" there, evening walks in the harbor, beautiful clear sea and amazing views.

Excellent place with clean water and a relaxing atmosphere. The beach near the Hotel "Palace" was found more suitable for daytime activities. Sea water more cleaner at the beach Biokovka and up to Ramova.
There was so much to love about this property! The property was new, beautifully furnished, in a great location with amazing view, and the host was extremely kind and responsive. The beds were very comfortable, A/C worked great, kitchen was stocked with appliances needed, loved the pool and sauna. It was convenient having a grocery store just down the road. The how provided recommendations for services in Makarska. Makarska was such a beautiful village! Checking in and out couldn’t have been easier and that was very much appreciated!
Our stay was absolutely perfect. We booked last minute and asked for the transfer from the airport. The host called us within half an hour and arranged to meet us at Split airport. The room was perfect: very clean and comfortable, a very nice bed, a balcony with a great view. The sea and promenade within 2 minutes walk. The hostess was extremely friendly and caring, once they even did our dishes! We we also brought back to the airport by the host! It was our first time in Croatia and we had a great vacation! We will certainly be back!
Beautifully situated on the Makarska riviera. The room was clear, comfortable and quiet. All facilities are available. I stepped out into the heart of Makarska directly across the dock filled with yachts and pleasure boats.
Restaurants and coffee shops were up and down the shore. With two beaches just past their he marina it was a pleasant stroll to the water.
The landlord was there to greet us and made sure we had everything. She was wonderful!
Will definitely be back to this wonderful city and stay here!

One of the best properties. Location is perfect , 2 min walk to Old Town 5 min walk to the beach. The place is perfect , very clean , great shower, comfortable bed and everything what you need for your stay. The host is kind and extremely helpful answering all questions in very short time . The best thing about this hotel is the location: you can easily access the beach from the pool area and enjoy the day on the comfortable beach beds. The rooms are spacious and cleam. Bathrooms could be updated, but are ok. The parking is next to the hotel and at an acceptable price (5 euro/ day). Breakfast area has lots of places and breakfast food is also good and varied.
The property is extremely beautiful, the view from the rooftop pool is spectacular. Our room also had a wonderful view of the riviera. Breakfast is a very good spread. The staff were also extremely helpful and extremely pleasant! For what we paid in early April, this was an absolute steal. We'll definitely come back if we ever visit Makarska again.
IT IS BEACHFRONT. The hotel was perfectly located in front of Makarska beach and a lot of restaurants and pubs nearby. Very convenient with market places and pharmacy closeby. Walking distance to the port.
