Dubrovnik is beautiful but has become very crowded, cruise ships not helping. The location and the old town are very beautiful but the number of cultural attractions is limited. The old town is almost pure tourist, with many eateries, bars and tourist shops, but very few ordinary shops. Prices are high. We enjoyed our two days and nights there, although we were a bit inhibited in moving around by 35 degree heat (unusual for mid-June) and high humidity. We only ate one restaurant meal, which was OK bur expensive. As we were not very hungry owing to the heat, we mainly ate at M'arden, where we were staying, which is delightful.

it is a very fascinating old town, Mediaeval castle is very fascinating. The people were so helpful and lovely. The water was pure and possibly the best water I’ve ever tasted in my travels.
My husband and I stayed in Lappad Hotel which is a few kilometres away from the old town. Would totally recommend the service there 10 out of 10 and the head chef you couldn’t ask for more.

While I see lots of positive reviews I feel that the city is way overpriced and especially in the old town they just seem to want to get as much money from the tourist as they can. Unless you want to walk up around the walls at a cost of 35 euro then there is very little to do apart from going on a boat trip or take the cable car ride which again a crazy price. I will not visit again.

Hotel Adria where we stayed was excellent.
Hotel Adria where we stayed was excellent. The old walled city is easily accessible via very good public bus services. The walk around the fortification walls is well worth doing although it is pretty crowded at the best of times and packed when cruise ships are docked. The best times to make the walk are either very early in the morning or in the late afternoon. The €45 city pass is worth getting as it includes access to the walls and a number of the main attractions and to free bus travel.

We loved Dubrovnik- the first time we went down to the old town at night and as there were fewer people and it was lit up it it literally took my breath away.
We bought a Dubrovnik pass and did the walls walk early, we enjoyed the Rector's Palace and the monastery.
We really enjoyed staying here. The whole experience was amazing. The room is super clean. Everything is new and high quality. Has everything you need from a nespresso, first aid kit, minifridge, smart tv etc. Offers free parking, you can take the bus to go to old town in about 7-8 mins. It is even better than a 5 star hotel. What makes it even better is the host. He was very helpful when our car broke down at 1 am. We can’t thank him enough. I wholeheartedly recommend this place.
Spacious, clean room and bathroom.
Breakfast was good and plenty.
Staff was friendly and helpful with tips to get around town.
Private parking available, which is a major plus in Dubrovnik (parking in Dubrovnik is insanely expensive and can be a nightmare, as there are very few private facilities and even fewer public parking spaces). An Uber drive from the hotel to the old town will cost you 6-7€ which we found to be an excellent compromise
Fabulous hotels. 4 Royal Hotels in a row & you can use facilities of all, every Hotel looks like new they are so clean & well kept. Wonderful breakfast with great coffee & sea views. Swimming pools great, lovely promenade with restaurants & bars to Ladap village but as with all Dubrovnik everywhere is very expensive. Local bus no. 6 to old town 3 minutes from front of hotel luckily it is the terminus as it gets very crowded even early May.
A great location by the beach. The nearest supermarket is a ten minute walk away along the sea front. Uber is incredibly efficient and cheap so you pop into the old town in Dubrovnik whenever you want (although the journey can take 20+ minutes if the traffic is bad). There's a lovely beach bar (Ponat) a one minute walk away and some fancier hotel beach clubs/bars/restaurants (Coral/Copacabana) another five or ten minutes walk after that.
Our room overlooked the Old Town, Lokrum Island, and the Adriatic, all with a balcony to watch the sunsets.
With a room outside of the bedroom and a washing machine we had everything we could want. Our host, Nico, met us there and gave us a thorough tour of all of the room’s amenities. As in most of Dubrovnik, you will have a few stairs to navigate, but Nico even provided us with the best route to/from the Old Town.
The Rixos is an amazing hotel, the views are incredible and is within walking distance of the Old Town (around 4 euro using Uber). The food was exceptional (we stayed half board) as was the service we received. The hotel was clean and the facilities are as you would expect of a 5 star hotel. The Spa was lovely and was totally worth a visit. A wonderful and memorable stay and we can't wait to go back.
Hotel is located in lapad a part of the City Dubrovnik. Beide the hotel is a supermarket. With a 7 min walk you can reach the beach. Next to the hotel is a bus station. The Bus line number 6 reachs the old town within 20 minutes. Every 15 minutes a bus stops there. The appartment had his own small kitchen two bathrooms and a terrace. Very good located hotel.
Solid 5 star (-ish) hotel in Dubrovnik. Excellent position, spotless rooms, very kind staff (very refreshing considering that generally in Croatia service are quite grumpy), nice wellness area (although at some time of the day the pool area needs more supervision and tidying up), nice breakfast. Definitely one of the best options to stay in Dubrovnik.
The position of the villa is the best. It is on my road when you arrive in Dubrovnik and yet to get to the old town it's just going down the stairs. Our hosts were really nice, and a good thing they have free parking which is really important in Dubrovnik. Unfortunately, there wasn't a balcony in our unit, but the view from the window is amazing.
Beautifully decorated large room. A/c and elevator. Only stayed one night in Dubrovnik. Certainly will stay at the Hilton again it’s conveniently located near Old Town Dubrovnik but has easier access for public transportation since it’s outside the Old Town city walls! Very helpful staff.
Perhaps not typical as we were upgraded to the Hotel's private Villa on the waterfront which was fabulous. The main hotel looked very reasonable though, modern with a large bar area. Both venues are 15-20 minutes stroll to Dubrovnik old town.
We really like the unique look of this hotel. Parking under the hotel was very convenient. Very modern and comfortable bedroom and bath. Would recommend and stay at again. Easy to walk downtown old town Dubrovnik from this location.
The location in great if you’re in town to see the old town of Dubrovnik. The walk down to the the walled city is only about 25 minutes or the bus stop is very close to the hotel if you’re tired from exploring all day.
Super nice hotel in a great location in Old Town Dubrovnik! Check in was easy and we got help with our bags. The room was great, very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also great with plenty of room.
The hotel is located in the best place in old town. So easy in and out to everywhere in Dubrovnik. Plus it isn’t just a room, but with a sitting or dinning room extra which is really great!
We absolutely loved Villa Dubrovnik! Fabulous contemporary boutique 5 star hotel, exceptional staff & service, beautiful pool and sea area & the most wonderful food in all the restaurants.
Rixos is one of the top luxury hotels in Dubrovnik for many reasons. Located near the Old Town, you have fantastic views of the Adriatic with amenities that are very modern.
Prijeko Palace was an absolute pleasure to stay at. This hotel is unique, charming, and friendly and in a perfect location for exploring Old Town Dubrovnik.
