Marmari Paradise Resort Hotel, hotel in Váthia

Set in Marmari, 100 metres from Marmari Beach, Marmari Paradise Resort Hotel offers accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

A beautiful place, fabulous view from our balcony and lovely sandy beach with very safe swimming. Very friendly and welcoming staff, the manager Michaelis in particular for whom nothing was too much trouble. Despite the hotel hosting an extended family group for 2-3 nights for the baptism of a baby, the hotel was very quiet and peaceful. The breakfast is served not a buffet - fresh squeezed orange juice, local yogurt with honey and fresh fruit, choice of omelette/scrambled egg, toast and jam, little pastries and tea/coffee. The rest of the day the restaurant serves a variety of foods, including the choice of fresh fish of the day - you can look at the fish on their trays of ice in the fridge and choose. Priced by the kilo but waitress told us the approximate weight of particular fish. There is also a cafe terrace above the beach which serves drinks and snacks either there or can be ordered from the waiters on the beach. Sunbeds and parasols are free to hotel guests but you need to take your own towels.

Akrotiri B&B, hotel in Váthia

Located right on the sandy beach of Porto Kagio in Mani, Akrotiri B&B features a sea-view restaurant with fireplace.

Akrotiri B & B is truly excellent and family run. In an exceptional location at the end of the Mani. Right on the beach. So quiet and peaceful. Just a few steps from bathing in the clear warm sea water. Our host was so wonderful. Friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. All the meals we had there were lovely being served on the large balcony to the front. Lots of traditional Mani dishes on offer. But the star was our host, she was great. We will be back.

We spent only three days in the Vathia area. We would have enjoyed staying much longer. The landscape is breathtakingly beautiful. Many things to explore and visit, great walks and hikes, wonderful secluded beaches.

Vathia is a small village at the heart of the Mani peninsula...

Vathia is a small village at the heart of the Mani peninsula and is fascinating to wander around; it makes an excellent base from which to explore this highly atmospheric region. It is near good beaches and we ate well in the area too. There are relatively few foreign tourists down here so we felt we were a bit off the beaten track.
