The city is great, but I think it's only worth visiting for a couple of days only. It is best for sightseeing and gastronomic journeys. If you want to swim and a beach however, visit a smaller town.

Window shopping from the 1990s is great.
People are easy to talk to even if they don't speak English.
But the bad sides are the traffic...is horrible and the corrupt politicians and police.

I thought that the lack of trains was going to be a drawback but since we were near egnatia street so everywhere was reachable on foot. we wanted to visit the beaches and the boat trip from the port was an excellent way to visit them. if you don tdrive it is still a very enjoyable experience cos almost everywhere is reachable on foot. one can use local transport which we found very efficient. Food is super and very well priced. Good area for shopping too.

This is the second time we chose to come to Thessaloniki.
This is the second time we chose to come to Thessaloniki. Even though it is a busy city the sights, the food and the people make it worth the visit. We recommend the Ladadika for dinner or if you’re in the area of where we stayed you must try the Red House, the food and staff are fabulous.
