Nice hotel, large family room that had plenty of room for our family of 4. Nice pool and good breakfast included. Lots of parking. Not far from Matala Beach, about 15 minutes to walk down. Staff were very pleasant.

Casa E Mare is a great place to stay. It's a short walk from the main beach road but still has a nice selection of restaurants around it. It appears to be a family run place and I found everyone there to always be friendly and ready to help. The rooms are very large and actually feel pretty luxurious for the very reasonable price being charged. Additionally, they are very thorough in the daily room cleaning which is extremely nice for a beach place since no matter what you do, you will bring sand home with you.
Kata Beach is only about a 10 minute walk away but they even offer a shuttle bus that will take you there or to Karon Beach or Kata Noi Beach. They will even pick you up again! The internet is extremely strong.

The room was clean and relatively new looking. There is no wifi or tv in room. They have wifi at the bar and should be able to get it to rooms with routers but have not bothered. The bed was a disaster, it was hardest bed I have ever tried to sleep on. My wife and I both hardly slept and had sore back in the morning. We have been travelling for over 5 weeks had no problem with any other beds.

There is a great vibe at Matala that differs from the rest of Creta. The hippie feel is true. We caught live music the night we were there and it was the best moment.
This along with the red beach - strongly recommend.

Matala is a tourist hot spot.
Matala is a tourist hot spot. So a lot of restaurants there, lot of tourist shops with souvenirs and a lot of people. The beach itself is not that big, but it was nice though. I mean it really depends on what you are looking for. I am more fond of less crowded and less touristy places, so perhaps next time I would look for something more matching my preferences. On the other hand there is nothing wrong about Matala at all. All the people there are very friendly. Really it depends on what you prefer...

Matala is a quiet little town with not a lot of traffic, music or noise. You come here to relax. If you like naturist beaching this place is definitely for you (Red beach and Komos beach).
Moreover, Matala can be a good base for visiting the area (you have to rent a car or a bike).

The beach in matala, the red beach and the caves of matala are a must see. When you are in matala I would recommend the Restaurants Georges Yard, Plaka and Hakuna matata.
We only spend 2 nights at Coral.
But it was great!
The Manager of the Hotel, Eleni, is very sweet and so Friendly, she is just lovely!
The Breakfast ist perfekt, they offer a lot of different things, so there is everything for everyones taste!
Its just a small walk to the beach and the center of Matala.
The Rooms are simple but good and very clean and the beds are very good.
We will definitely come back next year and we can really recommend the Coral Hotel.

On a lazy day local beach is only 5 minutes walk away which is full of different bars, restaurants, tavernas. Even on a lazier day hotel is equipped with swimming pool which is a lovely place to relax. Very good quality free wifi compared to the places we stayed in the past. Overall, excellent value for money.
The hotel Is truly five minutes away from the main beach in Matala, the pool Is wonderful and the rooms are super clean and very comfortable. i travelled with my boyfriend but I would definitely recommend this accomodation for a family with Kids too. The hotel is in surrounded by trees and plants and Is a very relaxing Place. The owner Stelios Is super friendly and very funny. We Hope to get back soon.
Paradise Matala is very well located. We have been here before and we can only recommend the place. Super clean, friendly staff, nice breakfast and a great pool.
We booked a room in July and we could not come to Matala. We live in Crete, so we asked to come at a later date. Giorgos was so kind to let us come in October. Here you find real Cretan hospitality. We love it!
Alexandra is extremely welcoming and helpful. We had a room with upstairs balcony. There is a shared kitchen facility which is useful for breakfast and drinks. Room was clean and comfortable. Rooms are on the Matala Old Road (10 minute walk into town) and near to bus stop, great for days out (eg Phaestos) and bus to Kommos Beach.
The hotel is 5 stars in terms of cleanliness and peacefulness!

The whole Matala beach is amazing, one of the best in Crete. And with the nice accomodation just a few steps from the beach, tavernas, shops makes the it unforgetable holiday. We miss Matala spirit!
