With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history whilst embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you will find tavernas serving tantalising souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.
A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds downtown.
Changing the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The up-market districts of Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.

Visiting the Plaka and historic sites plus great people and food over 2 days is good. Recommend to take a ferry or flight to one or more of the neighboring islands. We had a short time so took ferry to Egina a locals island which was perfection. From the port drove 20 mins to a nearby marina where we rented a hotel on the beach. Very few tourists (a contrast to Athens), private beach, excellent food, sun and relaxation.

Not much to see, except for the Parthenon and maybe the changing of the guards in the National Assembly. The real problem in Athens are there are just too many pickpockets and muggers in the metro stations (specially the Monastiraki, Syntagma, Omonia and Pireaus stations) and popular tourist destinations. And what makes these groups quite unique compared to the other cities in Europe is that they work in large groups (normally 4 to 6 people per group). so they would normally gang-up with you. So just a piece of advice, if you're arriving to this city either from the airport or the ports of Pireaus or Rafina and you're pulling along large luggage it would be advisable for you to not take the metro stations. 90% chance, you will get mugged.

A city where, besides the historical sites that must be visited, there is always something else to discover! If you visit it on foot, wear super comfortable shoes and be prepared to ups and downs, and to stairs with uneven and different steps.

When I first visited Athens in 1985, it was the dirtiest, noisiest, most beautiful city in the world. Not so dirty any more but still very beautiful. The Plaka restaurants are fabulous all in the shadow of the Acropolis, one of the World's most amazing sites.

Athens is a great city to enjoy.
Athens is a great city to enjoy. It has the largest number of restaurants and Taverns I I have ever seen in the one city. We enjoyed the time we spent in strolling the narrow streets of the city and the hospitality of the greek people.
Fantastic location, easy walking to all Athens has to offer! Magnificent view of Acropolis from balcony. Lots of little extras such as wine, ouzo and sunscreen provided. Stelios also provided fantastic communication from the beginning of the booking and organised for John the taxi driver to pick us up from airport for 50€. John gave us wonderful information about Greece, and where to go, and Stelios also provided recommendations… we thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days in Athens and would definitely 😃recommend the apartment.
My family is from Greece and before we went to stay with them, we decided to be pampered at a luxury resort in the heart of Athens. We stayed at the King George before and now Hotel Grande Bretagne. Both are great properties. Grande Bretagne is a beautiful hotel- luxury at its finest. Staff was amazing and accommodating. Everyone was very thoughtful and friendly towards my 2 1/2 year old son who was treated like a prince. Good location, easy access to the metro, restaurant on the top of the hotel has amazing views.
Blazer Suites is best accommodation we had in Athens and possibly best experience so far in the capital of Greece. We arrived very early, about 8 am and our room was ready. We slept in huge comfortable bed with variety of pillows and suite was very nicely equipped with everything. The hotel provides excellent breakfast, room service and the pool zone is nice and “frenchy”. The main treasure is Blazer team. They really care to provide excellent service and this is what you never regret you payed for.
Everything was wonderful, with the staff being the most outstanding I have ever dealt with in my many years of travel. A special shoutout to Giota who went out of her way for us on a consistent basis…but each staff member went over and above to assure our comfort and enjoyment…just amazing! The location was perfect-we couldn’t have asked for a more convenient and beautiful location. We loved Greece and the Hotel Lozenge had a lot to do with that. Can’t wait to visit again.
Clean and comfortable hotel just a quick walk from the Monastiraki Square/Train station. Dimitrios from staffing contacted us quickly to make finding/checking in smooth. He also went above and beyond by offering us a walking tour of Athens to tell us some history of the city/Greece in general. He also helped us with recommendations for our next stops in Greece. Highly recommend! Thanks again Dimitrios!
We loved everything about this hotel..
Quite simple was our favourite accommodations during our month long holiday visiting Italy, Greece
and Ireland. The VIEW was breathtaking. We loved sitting on the rooftop enjoying the most amazing, delicious breakfasts everyday and then a night cap watching the twinkling lights of Athens and the beautiful view of the Acropolis.
Top notch luxury hotel in the area, with very spacious lobby with multiple seating areas, bar and unique rooftop views to the Athens sightings. Great bed, super comfortable and stylish. Food at the great hotel's restaurant was great and abundant. Reasonable prices for autumn so I will highly recommended to my friends who want to visited Greece for vacations.
everything was beyond amazing. the location is superb. the staff are excellent and the most helpful I’ve ever seen. the rooms are super modern and clean. the food is delicious. honestly the best hotel we stayed in, in all of Greece. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. I would definitely stay here again every time I am in Athens.
Loved the location ,a short walk from syntagma square ,bus from airport stops here.It is just around the corner from Plaka.
We were allowed into our early as we had an early flight into Athens. This was brilliant. Room very good ,quiet .Breakfast excellent .Whats not to like with a view of Acropolis. Service excellent. This hotel was a find .
The staff was super friendly and helpful. The location is superb, if you are interested in staying close to all the important archeological sites. What I liked in particular was the intimate, family-like feel of this property, as opposed to the international, faceless hotels. I am planning to stay there every time I go back to Greece.
location. very accessible to all the sites in Athens and restaurants, shops, places to see is within walking distance.
the room was very nice with lots of space for 1 people and breakfast is delicious and view from the rooftop is magnificent.
if travelling to Greece in the future, will definitely stay at this hotel again.
Very nice new hotel in the city center next to Omonia square.
The staff is friendly and always ready to help. Rooms are clean, good new beds. The cost is very affordable. Convenient to get from the airport.
Definitely recommend to visit this hotel if you plan to stay in Greece. I will gladly return to this hotel.
A warm and friendly, English speaking staff, clean, quiet hotel…excellent location (for going into Athens or traveling on to central & northern Greece.) Walking distance to a nice supermarket, 15 min walk to many restaurants. Very nice patio/porch seating for coffee or cocktails, in a garden space.
Clean room and kind staffs, and good breakfast. When I left the hotel while putting my book somewhere, I knew that later and they tried to find it. However, after leaving Athens, I am still going to another place in Greece. So, I do not know how to retrieve it...Anyway the staffs are so kind.
Best location great staff when you come to Greece this hotel is a little peace of home , no language barrier right by the mediterranean with all the modern conveniences, that you were expecting a hotel in the United States
Downtown Athens and looking at the Acropolis on the top floor of hotel. The. Pictures cannot same enough. Wonderful. Very inexpensive. Time to go if you can. 3 days are enough. Greece is inexpensive. Travel
This was the best hotel of our trip to Greece. Really comfortable boutique hotel owned by two lovely sisters who really made our stay special. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Really fantastic hotel.
The staff were so nice upon arrival and leaving. The hotel was beautiful and clean. They went above and beyond to accommodate us, very welcoming and friendly for our first time in Greece.
