Abatis Hotel has an amazing location, close to Skala port and many amazing restaurants. Chalkiada beach is few minutes walk away (though getting there is not a walk in the park :) ), so for an easy access beach and swimming Skala beach is the closest. Make sure to get a room with the sea views - it is overlooking the harbour and the neighbouring islands, amazing view for the breakfast or night drink. Staff was fantastic, very helpful and friendly, made our stay even more pleasant, so did the gorgeous and friendly cat! :) We highly recommend getting an electric bike - you can go around the island in less than an hour, and seeing the sunset on Dragonera beach is a must.

I normally dont leave reviews but this one deserves to. I have never encountered such a polite and welcoming host, helpful and respectful. I had no idea what to do during my holidays and she told me from a to z where to go when and how to have the best time possible without having to throw money unnecessarily. 100/10. Will definitely visit again in my next holidays. Without question the place to stay. Thank you for everything Eleni.

Megalochori is a small village, Noima Hotel where we stayed was opposite the beach. There is a promenade right on the beach for early morning walks or jogging. The port is 3 minutes walk away, so we didn't need a taxi or a car to move around. You can rent motorbikes, bicycles and you can go round the island. There is an efficient and prompt bus service which takes you to the two famous beaches of the island (Dragonera and Aponisos). Both worth a day's visit and the sea is unbelievably clear and inviting.

I really loved this side of Agistri, honestly, when we had to pack up and move to a new room in Skala,I was sad. I really enjoyed the quiet, tranquil setting of Megalochori. Do yourself a favor and book a trip with Kristos on the Jaimaca boat tour, it was a fabulous experience. He also plays the Bazookie exceptionally well. It was incredible to see the shipwreck he takes you to and lunch in Methana was perfect. Can’t say enough about it. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment we had on this side of Megalochori.

We preferred this end of the strip as it is quieter but still has good beaches, bars and restaurants only a few minutes stroll away. It has a couple of good supermarkets too. There is quite a bit of building work going on so maybe check with your host first.

We went out of season with few people on the island except the core of locals, most tourist businesses closed.
We chose it as it is small and we expected it to be quiet, and only one hour from Piraeus by ferry. Nearby Aegina is much larger and another option, but you would need your own transport (hire cars available).
in season i could imagine it being super busy and seeming crowded.
Great location in a quiet part of Skala, but only a few minutes walk into town. Very good value for money, we had a lovely room with a fabulous sea view balcony. Family run, very nice, cosy atmosphere. There is a wonderful swimming spot if you walk down the path from the hotel to the little shrine, then cross the road and go down the small lane towards the sea. A gorgeous little cove with almost nobody there. Fabulous for an early swim.
Host was very accommodating and super nice. They picked us up at the boat port to give us a drive to hotel and also had fresh fruit ready for us. They even gave us a little gift when we checked out! Would highly recommended this place to anyone.
The host Katarina was supernice and welcoming and really made me feel comfortable. The room was clean and cosy. The hotel is located centrally in Megalochori, and everything you need in a close proximity.
The accommodation is in a great location and gets great views. The rooms are clean and spacious. The host is great and attends to every needs. Will definitely visit again. Thank you for having us.
