We have hiked from Khevsureti to Tusheti via Atsunda pass. After two days in the tent, we arrived at Shio's Stonehouse. We had the most welcoming hosts, delicious food and comfy rooms and the environment in general. 100% recommended.

Location was conveniently right on the town square, as were many other guest houses, so there was option to eat in different places and to walk to the tower. Some of the food was very good.

Breakfast was great with locally produced food including ham, eggs, cheese, tomatoes, as well as homemade honey and pancakes we couldnt eat it all each day!! The staff spoke pretty good english as well especially the daughter so helped us out with questions about places locally to visit. We made our own bbq each evening and ate in their huge outdoor banquet area with a fantastic view over the valley to a massive mountain range with a horseshoe river far down below us that we could watch from the 'instagram photo' bench at the bottom of the garden. On the second night 3 or 4 horses meandered up to us and let me stroke them.
The house is just as you enter Lower Omalo on the only road in, its a 10-15min walk to the Tusheti Visitor Centre which has a museum showing the customs and traditions of the Tushetian people as well as its history i read 1 story there referring to a battle where the town was being invaded and the family killed themselves with text that read something like 'it is better to die by the people you love, instead of being butchered by the enemy'. We then trekked up the hill to Upper Omalo and the fortress on the hill with superb views of the whole town and surrounding areas. We saw large birds of prey gliding majestically from tree to tree each day, wild horses roaming the fields, as well as small lizards scurrying around over rocks as we climbed up the hill to the fortress.
Oh and we tried some amazing homemade Tushetian Khinkali at a local restaurant as well as the tushetian version of Khachapuri (called Kotori), both very different styles to what we eat in Tbilisi so it was cool to try them. For such a remote location the majority of locals we spoke to spoke pretty good English we had no issues asking directions or just chatting to them to find out about life in the mountains!
Such a peaceful location with the freshest of air we loved our stay there

Great property in a very secluded part of Georgia. They say the journey is the destination. In this case, it’s’ partially true. The journey to the hotel is an unforgettable 70km drive through incredible scenery on a road that is not for the fainted hearted. We hired a driver who makes the 4 hour trip multiple times per week. The hotel staff were incredible with just the right amount of assistance without being overbearing. The property doesn’t have modern conveniences that you find in other hotels around they world like TV, minibar and refrigerator, but that was just fine for us. The hotel restaurant has a great menu of local and Georgian dishes. We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant on each of our three days there. Nothing disappointed us. It’s a beautifully decorated property with lots of windows to the extraordinary mountain views
If you are ready for an adventure with a great hotel destination, I highly recommend Samzeo

Everything!!!😊😊😍😍 everything was beautiful and amazing. We had lots of sun, beautiful cloud formations, some rain, mist, fog!🌞🌫🌬🌦☁️
It was a surreal experience, just one of a kind! The place is just so beautiful, its like in a dream!💤💭💭
And even our hosts were great!🙌🙌 They truly cared for us not just in our stay and tour in Tusheti but also in bringing us to our final destination.🥰🥰🥰 Levan, Nino and their families are very warm and accommodating. We had an enjoyable, relaxing and festive stay in their place. They served us delicious and tasty authentic Tushetian foods. Staying in this place gave us a sense of privacy. The guesthouse is located at a crossroad to other villages. Also as it says, it has a picturesque view of the caucasus and it didn't disappoint me and my friends at all.
We are ever grateful for our host and guide Levan and his son Saba, for giving us enough time to explore the places on our own and also for explaining to us some facts and history of the places we went to. Also we are thankful for choosing the more tamed horses during our horseback riding tour of the area. We had a very safe horse tour and we enjoyed the scenery despite we have zero experience riding a horse.🐎🐎🦄🐎 Special thanks to David, our english tour guide at that time😊
We will surely miss our time in Tusheti, the wonderful and beautiful people and the unique beauty of the place but we will surely cherish our enjoyable memories when we were there.🥰🥰🥰🌈🌈
Thank you again to our beautiful and wonderful hosts.😊😊🤗🤗❤❤
