lovely short stay in cosy charming old building, used to be a coaching inn historically, now a modern style restaurant/pub witha few rooms. Some nice traditional features retained, old bow windows, wooden floors, lovely curved staircase, modern bathrooms, muted cosy paint colours, food was fine pub grub type, good wine selection, outside spaces nice for the summer days, lots of plants and well maintained outside walls and tables and benches. Dog friendly is a big plus and next time will come with my dog.

My wife and I stayed at this family-run hotel for two nights (Friday and Saturday nights). We enjoyed a very generous and tasty breakfast. All the staff we met, on Reception and in the Restaurant, were very friendly. Despite the fact that the hotel is located in the centre of the town and that music is played in the ground floor bar till midnight on Friday and Saturday nights our room was very quiet. The free Wi-Fi worked very well.
South Woodham Ferrers is very well placed to explore the countryside, the City of Southend-on-Sea and towns and villages nearby.

I visited as I was visiting family - Woodham Ferrers has lots of facilities - such as park (for walking the dog) -Manor farm for children's activities (brilliant - mainly all outside); leisure centre with swimming pool (not particularly big) and a very compact but with variety shopping centre.
This is a family area and does not support luxury/designer shops
Woodham Ferrers has good access to major road links and a train station to London.
The Indian restaurant in South Woodham Ferrers was excellent and very good value for money

I visited on a whim, just to get out of London.
I visited on a whim, just to get out of London. Compared to other places I've visited in the country this year, this has to be the best in lacking any soul and social interaction. As I was walking and no signs were present on the main roads, why do you need to follow the bike routes to get to the railway station? Why didn't anyone know where the station was? Also, there are some old radar stations on the hill. Yet again no signs as to how to get there and once there, no history about the place. This also was the case along the river. No signs. If there's anyone who comes out with flying colour during the trip, the prize goes to the the bus drivers of Essex. These were the only people who could put a sentence together.

I only used the hotel as a stop off point for a trip to Colchester but I thought Woodham Ferrers was a nice little town. The hotel was in a very central convenient location. It had all I wanted. I ate in the green king pub next to Asda. Was lovely, noisy but it was Saturday night so that’s standard.

The hotel is in the middle of a small housing development, but very close to a large ASDA and several pubs and restaurants.
Check in was easy, although the parking just down the road is no longer free so the description in Booking.com needs to be updated.
Room was OK - clean, tidy and fine for me for a quick one night stop over between meetings.
Rooms were spotlessly clean, very impressed. Breakfast staff very helpful in providing us with an earlier than usual breakfast as we were attending an event and had to arrive by a certain time.
Hotel was fine for our purposes, would stay again in future.
Staff were all very pleasant, drink prices were very fair, although there was no evening food we could get a takeaway and the hotel would supply plates cutlery ect for us to eat in, breakfast was very good, overall great value for money.
