Location and host were awesome, as was Rothbury itself. Despite the weather, we spent 2 nights in the town eating and drinking after a nice strenuous 10-minute walk from the property.
Amenities are excellent, so rural and quiet that I had the best nights sleep in 20 years, with the fresh air floating through the open windows.
And the visit to Cragside was amazing

Excellent location for visiting castles,coast & gardens. Breakfast room & downstairs good. Breakfast reasonable,plenty of choice. Brewhouse served good food but very little choice for non-meat eaters. Plenty of tea & coffee supplied in room.
