The Elks Head Inn, hotel in Whitfield

Nestled within the beautiful Northumberland countryside in the picturesque village of Whitfield, The Elks Head Inn offers bright rooms and hearty, locally sourced cuisine.

Evening meal was excellent, highly recommend it. Music loud in the bar but was turned down when the owner served the main course and realised how loud it was. Breakfast was good too

Beaumont Hotel is situated in the heart of the market town of Hexham, less than 10 minutes’ walk to the rail station.

Dinner was exceptional! Souffle's to die for and the Waygu steak was simply delicious!! Would highly recommend. Breakfast was fantastic as well with fresh juices, croissants and a delicious cooked selection. The hotel has a wonderful buzzy atmosphere - clearly a very popular place for locals as well as visitors. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and looked after us extremely well - nothing was too much trouble. Surprisingly quiet spot in the centre of Hexham with lovely views over park.

Nice clean room, Bed was a bit uncomfortable, could do with a new mattress. Wi-fi signal is not very good but that is not the owners fault. Plenty of tea coffee etc. hairdryer. Friendly staff, good food. Good base for being out and about.

    It was what I expected.

It was what I expected. It was very rural, but wonderful for a city dweller to sample country life, from shooting parties to exceptional night skies, sunsets & sunrises, to pheasants and partridges running around everywhere. There were options to drive to nearby market towns on country roads to enjoy surrounding areas, or simply walk the trails to take in the views in the clean country air. It was wonderful.

The owners had only just been in the Hotel a few weeks and had had a lot to do to get it to the standard it was to receive guests. Only open five days when we arrived. Because of this there were a few teething problems, so some of my scores were a little lower than they could have been.

Breakfast choices were good, particularly enjoyed the full 'English' fried breakfast. Rooms were clean and comfortable, with tea/coffee making facility. Location was rural and quiet, with nice beer garden. The restaurant/bar food menu was good, enjoyed the three evening meals we had.
