Very characterful pub in a fab location close to Exmoor. Dunster is also a lovely village in which to spend a few days away with the castle in very easy reach from the Luttrell. Liked the fact that the Luttrell also reimbursed me for my parking in the pay and display car park around the corner as they do not have their own parking (although there are also some free slots opposite the Luttrell if you are lucky enough to bag one of these). Bookable eating pods in the garden looked great, although I did not have the chance to try one out. Guest lounge upstairs was also a pleasant & welcome surprise.
Dunster Castle Hotel is located in the medieval village of Dunster. Free WiFi access is available. All rooms have a private bathroom with bath or shower.

Best welcome we have ever experienced.
Best welcome we have ever experienced. Made to feel more than at home. Made some good friends there. The White Horse is a little way from the Steam Railway, but parking at Washford is ok. Great place for walking for the more active of us.
Easy to get to Minehead, Watchet, etc. Steam train ride always a plus!!

Washford is an ideal place to stay if your looking at visiting Exmoor, The Quantocks, West Somerset Railway or even if your into country walks.
It has easy access to a foot path which links to the Mineral Line, which was an old railway used between Exmoor and Watchet and is now a lovely country walk. In total, its around 11 miles, but from Washford, you can walk to Watchet (around 2 miles) and get the steam train back.
Cleeve abbey is just a short walk up abbey road.
Some nice pubs are quite local, The White Horse serves good food at really reasonable prices and is just a short drive up abbey road.
There are 2 nice chip shops just a 5 minute drive away in Alcombe, together with a COOP, and roughly the same distance is a Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl and McDonalds on the outskirts of Minehead
At the time of our visit, the local Washford pub had shut down, and there doesn't appear to be any grocery stores either but there are plently just a short drive away.

It was wonderful until I found I was trapped upstairs at 8 am and no staff had been on site all night. Phoned and cook said can't help I'm cooking breakfast. She did help but she was rude to me. I'm 73 female alone who needs help with bags.

An attractive old characterful village that straddles the main A39 road. It lies on the edge of Exmoor and is close to the sea. Medieval Cleeve Abbey is well worth a visit. This is a beautiful area and Washford is a good base from which to explore it.

ideal for a peaceful and relaxed stay, West Somerset railway station and exploring the area.Minehead with all its attractions is a short drive, train or bus ride away.
you would need to travel to Williton or Minehead for shopping
Rustic and out of the way, great staff, good food, particularly the big brekkie - although this was on top of the accomodation charge £12 each) which is why I have rated this hotel a 4 (value for money was ok but a bit more than other places we researched). In saying that, we would stay again. A comfy inn and clearly popular with the locals.
This excellent pub/hotel is located in a beautiful hamlet with plenty of off road parking. The staff are friendly with excellent beer and food available. I will definitely be staying here when working in the area again. The beef and ale pie I had was one of the best I have ever tasted
