Everything, couldn't fault it, except if you just wanted a drink you get a table inside!

Disappointed with selection of breakfast choices on the side table ,,no fresh fruit ,,only a few
Croissants put on a tiny plate,,,tinned peaches ...
It was all crammed onto a small table ,,so you had to wait for people to get there's ....
After all we paid a lot for Bed & Breakfast.....
The cooked breakfast was very good...
Thornton-le-Dale oozes an air of peace and tranquility.
Thornton-le-Dale oozes an air of peace and tranquility. Said to be the prettiest village in Yorkshire. Ideal base for bus (Coastliner) trips to Whitby, Scarborough and York and only couple of miles from Pickering and The North Yorks Moors Railway.
Excellent walks in all directions and an abundance of independent shops including arts, crafts, the chocolate shop, cafes and an ice cream parlour.

Good area for walking / cycling.
Good area for walking / cycling.
Two pubs which don't always serve food or are open late.
Area dead at night although a few shops open by day.
Mathewsons Garage is the main attraction but do check their website for full opening hours as access to the cars seems to be on limited days around the auction and the museum is not currently open.
Pickering is only a few miles away.

Four of us stayed one night and when we got up at the arranged time for breakfast there was nobody there to do anything. We waited for a while and could not get anyone to help. I left a phone message on their answer machine to say we were now leaving and very disappointed. Subsequently i was contacted to say sorry and they would credit us for the 4 breakfasts we did not get.
I have asked them on numerous occasions now giving my bank account details and have had no response whatsoever. This is simply not acceptable because not only didn't we have a breakfast we paid for but also a promise to credit us and then just ignore it.
Hence I am sorry but on behalf of future residents I am leaving this review which I would prefer not to have done.

Beautiful village in a fabulous part of the country.
Beautiful village in a fabulous part of the country. We stayed in the New Inn and ate there too. The food was really nice. We visited Matthewsons (classic car auction business) and really enjoyed it.
I don't think we would stay in Thornton le Dale again but only because we have been there and done that. However, for someone travelling throught the moors looking for a nice village to stay in, we would definitely recommend it.

We mainly went to Thornton le Dale to visit Mathewson garage from the TV program Bangers & Cash, this on the hole was disappointing as it is now just a shop for their products. We were not able to visit the museum as it was closed, we did travel to Pickering to visit their new site but visitors were not allowed.
Thornton is a beautiful village with a treat running through it, there are some shops and places to eat, also a fish & chip shop and pizza take away.
Everything was excellent, just what I hoped for, a home from home in a lovely village. People were friendly, the food was excellent. Ok this is not a modern 5 star hotel with all mod cons, but it is full of character and I would rather stay here than in a modern hotel.
The owners were lovely and we will certainly be going back, next time for a longer stay.
The room was very clean and well kept. Heating was on for arrival so the room was nice and warm. The breakfast options were good and the staff very helpful and attentive. This is set in a beautiful location in the middle of the Yorkshire mornings. Easily accesible from the A1(M).
Excellent breakfast, Yorkshire style. Quality produce and very friendly staff and owners. Attention to detail, the room and sitting room werr spotless and decorated to a very high standard.
The village and local area ar very picturesque.
The hotel was stunning and came in above our expectations. The breakfast was amazing and nothing was ever too much trouble. The whole experience was truly awesome. Thank you Vanessa, Tina and Christine xx love Mike and Julie Hoare xx
Lovely hotel in a fabulous location. Rooms were spotlessly clean & comfortable, a little warm as the weather was good but fans were provided in the rooms. Both breakfast & evening meal were excellent. Staff absolutely wonderful.
The location was perfect as was the hotel and all the facilities therein. The food was exceptional and staff were so helpful. We will certainly visit again in the future. Thank you all so much. X
hotel was all I expected even more so, please ensure that Booking.com amend their description of the bathroom it is an en-suite and not a private room. it did give me doubts when booking.
lovely hotel right in the centre of the village. Bed room was small but had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. staff were very friendly and the food was fabulous
Hotel staff very friendly. Food was excellent. The room was lovely and clean, we would definitely book again. The location of the hotel was great for visiting other areas
Everything in the cottage you need for a self catering break, walking distance to the lovely village of Thornton Dale, and would definitely return in the future.
Perfectly appointed in Thornton Dale with everything to make the cottage a home from home. Spotlessly clean & comfortable, in a beautiful part of the country.
