6 of us booked the villa for a gathering to make use of the outdoor seating area, bbq and narural pool. The owners, Piers and Sandra are so welcoming and 2 very interesting people.
We had a fantastic stay from start to finish. The Mill is stunning and has everything you would nees for your stay. The best part was the outdoor area where we spent the whole evening having had a bbq and a swim in the natural pool.
Thanks again guys for having us, I'm certain you'll be seeing our faces again.

There was a hose in the backyard so I could wash my bike. The shower was very good, in fact the whole bathroom was good except the toilet seat was not totally secure

As I was on a cycling tour it was great having all the facilities of home for less than the price of a basic hotel. Supermarket just around the corner. The host was very good at providing early notice of the key procedure. Milk, tea, coffee was a bonus.

We found several places of interest to visit within easy walking distance- e.g. priory, castle hill, duleep singh statue, dads army museum all with free entry. If you particularly wanted to visit Dads Army museum though check opening days/times in advance as quite limited. You need to be able bodied if you want to go up the castle hill-it's very tall and need to climb steps. Sit down eating out places limited although lots of take aways. Food was good at the local Wetherspoons-Red Lion-and available hours good. High street a bit run down-not for shopping fans. You would probably only need a couple of days to see everything but we enjoyed our visit.

We walked along the river bank to the town in the evening. There were some interesting buildings and we would have liked to visit the Burrel Museum but it is only open on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
On the way to the hotel we had a Sunday Lunch (3pm) at the Black Horse Thursford which we would highly recommend we hadn’t booked but they accommodated us and although very busy were very friendly and accommodating.

Great location and many places of interest.
Great location and many places of interest.
The pedestrian area was good to see and visit, Dads Army museum was excellent and the town trail worth doing, if only in part.
Never saw a single policeman over 3-days in the town central area. Definitely needed: in evenings, groups of youngsters, 9many with eastern European accents) being youngsters (noisy, kicking plastic bottles of water around, misbehaving) Looked like a drug seller beside The Bell Hotel (?) Group of 6/7 eastern European men drink cans
of larger near the supermarket and church entrance on King Street. A problem that will keep tourists away, needs sorting !
Glad we made the visit.

There's more to do in Thetford than you'd think!
There's more to do in Thetford than you'd think! It is oozing with history! It has an impressive motte & bailey castle mound with 89 steps to the top, a massive ruined Priory, the Dad's Army Museum (watch out! Only open on Saturdays!!), the Charles Burrell traction engine museum, the Ancient house museum (£5.70 adult ticket), and loads of stunning riverside walks leading one way to a nature reserve and the other Thetford Forest. I was amazed and delighted to see lots of small deer roaming around in many of the public parkland areas. There are plenty of pubs (including 'spoons) and cafes to eat at, charity shops if you like treasure-hunting, and quirky local shops. The lady in the Tourist Info shop in the high street was friendly and informative. We travelled to Thetford by train and had no problems getting to all the places of interest. I would definitely recommend!

Thetford Town was a mixture of old and new,,some places were quite run down. It had snowed when we was there, week before Xmas so all along the river looked very pretty and we enjoyed a river walk. Think it would be nice to visit in summer.
We were in Norfolk for the Household Cavalry Open Day and needed somewhere for 2 nights. On our way up we stopped at The Black Horse in Thetford for supper. The property was gorgeous and Tibouche and Philip delightful hosts and very accommodating. Philip has a very interesting story or two. The beds were very comfortable and fans were provided as it was an exceptionally hot weekend. Breakfast was really yummy and after our return on the saturday we enjoyed a picnic supper in the garden under the gazebo. All in all we had a very enjoyable stay.
The property was in a great location to visit family living in the area. We were able to host visitors, prepare several meals, and entertain our visitors. Having laundry facilities on-site was great as we had been traveling for over a week before arriving and it was to freshen up some of our clothes. The hosts has left us a small welcome basket which provided us with items to make our first breakfast during our stay.
Location was walking distance from the cafes and restaurants on King Street. I was only 5 minutes from work. The apartment looked like it was built last year. Assigned off-street parking made it easy to park and safe for my car. I only hope the property is available next time I'm in Thetford. Host made sure I knew where to park and get the keys. It really felt like a home away from home.
For our purpose, which is to visit family in Thetford, the location is ideal as it is just round the corner from them. However, it is also in a generally quiet residential estate, about 15-20 minutes pleasant walk from the town centre and about the same from the large supermarket and garden centre/cafe. There are also pleasant walks along the river which runs through the town.
The amazing location, the link to Dad's Army, surely is a massive opportunity missed by Greene King to have a themed hotel which would attract tourists from all over the uk.
They seem to have a penchant for running their pub's and inn's into early grave's. Still an enjoyable stay, but could do so much better.
Spacious, very tastefully decorated, all what you need as a home from home. Bathroom was amazing with a lovely bath to relax in at the end of a busy day walking.
Property well positioned for walking into Thetford for eating out in the evening, and also walks in the surrounding area.
It’s in a great location, central to everything in Thetford and easy reach of the main roads. Plenty of guest parking.
The rooms are a good size and the beds were comfortable.
Staff are super friendly. Really lovely at all times. Breakfast was fab as well.
Very clean, very contemporary, perfect temperature, very, very convenient for the town centre (you are right there but the hotel is still very quiet and peaceful). Lovely, friendly staff who care a great deal about your stay, very reasonably priced as well
Quaint old hotel with lots of charm. In tow center of Thetford literally across the street from Thomas Payne’s statue. This place exudes old English history from its mortar. The staff were exceptional! They even had a fan in the room!
The Old Fire House was brilliant. Great communication from the host, very clean and spacious, great facilities and nice touches. The location was excellent too. We were very happy with this stay and had a great time here in Thetford.
The property was lovely, and spacious for two! The location was great too, opposite a friendly pub in a historic town with lots to discover. If you're a Dad's Army or traction engine fan, Thetford's the place for you!
Peace and quiet lovely gardens and pond teaming with wildlife.. fabulous.. Close to forest and wonderful countryside and a 15 min car journey into Thetford. Help yourself breakfast and fresh bread. Delightful
Breakfast was superb, very pleasant to be served with a freshly cooked breakfast (not ‘buffet’ like modern hotels) with a definite feeling that you, as the customer, is a valued individual,
A warm welcome on arrival. Ideally located with beautifully appointed bedrooms and communal area.. Relaxed atmosphere. Enjoyed the homemade conserves and delicious fresh bread.
The location was near shopping and historical buildings (Thetford Priory). The apartment was comfortable for our family of four, and it has a full kitchen and washer.
The house was spacious, comfortable, clean and well-equipped. Quiet, yet only five minutes, walk from Thetford centre and had a secure adjoining garage for bikes.
Great choice on breakfast menu and all perfectly cooked. Relaxed and very friendly hosts, nothing too much trouble, would be very happy to visit again.
