Breakfast had a great choice from the menu and from the continental selection with fresh fruit and clearly labelled cereals.
The dinner choices were outstanding. Everything I ate was fresh and well balanced. The fish choices and desserts were a particular favourite.
The room was well decorated with a calming colour scheme and details considered such as the perfect curtain length.
The outside space included various places to sit in the shade or sun, on the patio surrounded by plants or on the lawn with a view of the countryside. The plants brought nature to the rooms and meant I could watch birds and insects from my window.
The rooms are away from the pub so piece can be found even on a busy night. Yet as it is such a short walk it won’t be a struggle for those who need step free access or little exertion.
Located in the heart of Constable Country, Poplars Farmhouse B&B is set among fields and trees, and is less than a 12-minute walk from Stoke-by-Nayland.

There wasn’t really anything i liked about the property to be honest apart from the food which was okay.

The room was 10/10 - roll top bath in room behind glass partition that had a frosting filter button. Separate bathroom with huge walk in shower...gorgeous local toiletries. Bed and linen was top quality as were all soft furnishings. Home made chocolates in room were a nice touch as was a glass of fizz for my husband and I upon arrival to mark our wedding anniversary. Cocktails and menus in the restaurant are high end / West end equivalent. The food was sublime. Top top it off, the hotel itself is one of the most quintessentially gorgeous buildings that has been tastefully decorated and is absolutely pristine.

We ate one meal in The Crown.
We ate one meal in The Crown. This was a nice meal but pricey. To get to other places to eat you probably need to drive. We had walk round the village. The church is worth a visit and not far from the church came across a childrens playground that our grandchildren loved. The village is very pretty and some of the old buildings are amazing to see . It does not take very long by car to get to more of the lovely villages etc in the area. Sudbury is possibly closest for a bigger town if thats what you want. We did not have time to visit everywhere that we would like to see but they will be on list for next time! We had a great meal in the Fox and Hound at Groton - old country pub with proper home made food and very reasonable prices. Give that a go-well worth it.

David and Paul the hosts were excellent.
David and Paul the hosts were excellent. The farmhouse is a beautifully restored listed building. The home made food was delicious and we were able to walk to the Crown along a country footpath having been given directions by David.

Incredible pub, great food and nice service.
Incredible pub, great food and nice service. Very attentive staff. Rooms very clean and well set out. Every comfort you could want. This is exactly what a pub should be however so many pubs fall below the standard that Angel Inn achieves so flawlessly!

Lots of places to see and things to do, the villages and towns in the local area are all very picturesque. There is a plethora of walking opportunities with many circular walks in the vicinity and further afield. There's also many interesting villages and places with a long history to visit and enjoy. The roads can be slightly tricky at times so a bike would be useful for getting around smaller villages and narrow lanes. There's also a bus service connecting Stoke by Nayland to Sudbury and beyond which we would have made use of if we were staying longer. Lavenham, Long Melford, Flatford Mill are all close by as well as other beautiful villages.

The nearby farmhouse B&B accommodation was excellent, and Stoke by Nayland has two excellent pub/restaurants for meals in the evenings. Like most Suffolk villages the streets are narrow so care is needed to negotiate parked cars.

The hotel is lovely, and the staff couldn't be more helpful. I regret having to give a low score for the facilities which, given a different set of circumstances, would I'm sure have been good to excellent. The hotel's kitchen was out of action (due to planned upgrading work) which left my party in a very difficult situation. The manager stepped up and paid for taxis to and from the nearest restaurant........a long way away! We were very grateful.
The room was lovely. Large bed lovely bathroom. The hotel is also set in lovely grounds. .The rooms are in a separate building to the restaurant and bar so it was super quiet. There is also small lounge area in the bedroom building which was nice for being able to sit for a quiet drink in evening. Breakfast was tasty and my husbands coffee was made exactly to his preferred strength(strong black coffee).
This was an excellent overnight stay in very comfortable and spotlessly maintained surroundings. It wasn't cheap, but the quality of the service and the restaurant justified the expense. The ancient village inn had been completely refurbished in a charming and elegant style. The restaurant menu was a gastronomic treat - inventive and creative cooking in a stylish and intimate environment.
The restaurant at The Angel is fantastic - we had the tasting menu on both evenings which was amazing. The food was cooked to perfection and extremely tasty; Ruben is an inspired chef. The service was great and the whole experience exceeded our expectations. The hotel room was luxurious and comfortable. We'll be going back for special occasions without a doubt.
Lovely location all.by itself in a lovely hidden valley and yet within striking distance of Stoke By Nayland....very ancient farmhouse carefully renovated to a high standard. Fresh flowers in the bedroom to welcome....fresh milk thoughfully put our for the morning cup.of tea...
Splendid breakfast with special local.ingredients...Exceptionally quiet location.
We stayed for 4 nights in Poplars Farmhouse and felt very comfortable. Our room was spacious, interior of room and house were very stylish. The breakfast was outstanding; attention was paid to every detail.
You could walk to Stoke by Nayland in about 10 minutes (lovely country lane).
We definitely recommend this B&B and its hosts!
Comfortable and very nice room. Big bathroom with excellent bath products. Bowl and towel for our puppy. In general the hotel is very nicely decorated and the restaurant has very characteristic and romantic atmosphere.
The place was lovely the pub is old the hotel part newer. Room was big. Shower nearly washed you away it was so powerful. Breakfast excellent
We stayed for lunch as well which was very good.
Loved the tasteful decor of the rooms. The garden is stunning - could take dog into the hotel which is a massive plus. Also had very elderly parents so ground floor rooms worked well for us.
