Beautiful historical hotel perfectly situated for all the sights. This is how a hotel should be run - spotlessly clean comfortable room with plenty of coffee/teas and toilet rolls so no need to ask for extra. Breakfast was perfectly cooked with plenty of choice served by lovely pleasant staff. Car park a big bonus. Probably the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in.

Lovely village, the plough does meals from lunch time until 8ish, you have a fish a chip restaurant just across the way, there’s also Eskdaleside antiques over the road with some lovely garden ornaments, and not to forget Perry’s garden centre with tearooms by the river, a gift shop and plants for sale, they have added a little bar which is fab by the river

The size of the property was fantastic.
The size of the property was fantastic.
It was well located only 5 mins away from a bus stop and less than 10 to the train station.
It was a shame there wasn’t a pub to walk to rather than having to drive. It was only a 5 minute drive but meant you couldn’t have a few drinks.
More cupboard space for food would have been good and the cleaners could have checked that there were enough coat hangers or the host could suggest that you bring your own as people may take them home.
The thing that let down our stay was the unclean state the property was in on arrival.
When I am paying over £500 for a weekend I expect it to be spotless and not have to start cleaning before we unpack.
My son has a dust mite allergy so this really didn’t help !
I was extremely disappointed .

Sleights is well located for access to the local tourist attractions. The train into Whitby would have been ideal for us, however they were on strike on the Saturday we were there. We used the bus service which was good value at £2 per journey, but the timetables displayed online and in the bus stops did not show the correct times. There is a park and ride facility outside of Whitby, and that would have been a good alternative option.
The restaurant we had booked in Whitby unfortunately had to cancel all bookings due to a flood on the premises, so we used the fish and chip shop in Sleights (Eskdale Fisheries) for our evening meal. The fish was delicious but we have had better chips.
