Fox & Hound Hotel, hotel in Skinningrove

Situated in Guisborough, 48 km from Flamingo Land Theme Park, Fox & Hound Hotel features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant.

Breakfast was pre ordered the night before & was in the attached cafe- located through the hotel so no different to a usual restaurant. Could order what you wanted, price varied I think. We all had the traditional cooked breakfast & for us the food was excellent, well cooked & tasty. Not the traditional bacon, but was still very good & would have again. Cereals were available, we just had enough with the hot food, served to our table. Lovely friendly staff, very keen to please. Large car park at the rear, free to guests- book in at reception. Lovely location, next to Cleveland Way. Another time would like a longer stay so we could have a walk too, not just visit friends. Rooms adequate. Lots of furniture so was a bit cramped. Comfortable bed. Clean sizable shower, pressure a bit low. All very clean.

The peace & quiet was lovely, great for walking , amazing views when on top of the hills. Also good bus service into Middlesbrough, which was just across the road from the property. Ate in Saltburn a couple of times, the Ship inn, very good & the Tomahawke was excellent if you wanted bit more fine dining. 5 mins around the corner & you where on the coastline.

Skinningrove is a small quiet place, not a lot here but great if you want a peaceful few days away, pub was closed & there was a small shop called Sheila’s but we didn’t need to use it as we’d been to Aldi on our way in. Did a lovely walk to Saltburn & the next day to Staithes which was longer & more hard going but we caught the X4 bus back to the beginning of Skinningrove so just had a short walk back to the main area, cheap too only £3 each. Beach is ideal for dogs & theresno restrictions.

Proximity to a good beach and to the coastal path. Ideal for touring the area. Area a little run down but some nice properties as well as a lot of self-catering available for the size of Skinningrove. Cattersty beach is a gem!

Good location for beach and coastal walks.

Good location for beach and coastal walks. Easy access to other beach resorts and towns. Very quiet. Skinningrove has one small shop/post office, fish and chip shop and a cafe at the caravan park, not somewhere to stay if you want entertainment and shopping. The Steel Works on the hill make for an interesting backdrop.

Skinningrove is a very quiet village.

Skinningrove is a very quiet village. If you are wanting something lively and busy do not go here. This a place where peace and quiet is king! There is a village shop and a cafe/bar (The Kaskane, Mill Lane) which is open 11am til 10pm Monday to Saturday and serves lovely food. The beach is lovely and clean and not busy. Also the walk The Cleveland way is accessible from Skinningrove. You do need a car but there is a half hour regular bus service to Whitby or Middlesbrough from the A174 at the top of Mill Lane. It takes about 10 mins to walk to it. There is lots to see and do in the surrounding areas and is a great place to base yourself and relax.
