Staying at Down Hall was a real treat. The room was wonderful and the staff were really lovely. The grounds are great for a walk. Breakfast was hearty and the restaurants and cream teas were yummy.
The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful. The room was larger than I thought it would be with an additional bed, no additional fee though :) There was everything I could have needed in the room - iron and ironing board, heater, fan, hair drier, tea, coffee and biscuits.

Close M11 and Stansted. A small village with some local shops. Good location to explore Essex and South Suffolk, lots of things to see nearby. The roads are narrow and there are lots of small villages with speed limits. A popular area for cyclists and bikers.

The staff were very welcoming and pleasant. The food was exceptional, would use them again but unfortunately no more events expected in their location.
Only negative was the man who helped serve breakfast, he was not dressed appropriately - it looked like pyjamas but likely shorts & T-shirt
From start to finish, our stay was one of the best that we've had in a pub/hotel. The staff were great from check in to check out. The food was really tasty with a fantastic breakfast, locally sourced ingredients throughout We tried to go back the following night when another venue had let us down but the Cock was unfortunately full. I wouldn't hesitate on stating again or recommending it to others.
