Inn on the Lake by Innkeeper's Collection, hotel in Shalford

Inn on the Lake by Innkeeper's Collection boasts a lakeside location and is surrounded by picturesque gardens.

Well appointed hotel in our home town - we had to vacate home for a night due to an emergency. The room we were given was really big (apparently it’s the honeymoon suite!), with a decent tv, nice bathroom, and the amenities - like nice shower gels, a hair dryer etc. - you’d expect when paying more than £100 per night. The bed was really comfortable, and the pillows and covers were snuggly. The room was double aspect, and had a nice palette of greens to the walls and covers etc. there was a decent kettle and a good number of both caffeinated and decaffeinated offerings on the tea tray.

Worplesdon Place Hotel, hotel in Shalford

In a beautiful, quiet location, between the A3 and the M3, just 5 miles from Guildford's town centre, Worplesdon Place Hotel offers free parking, a restaurant and comfortable, great-value rooms.

I love this property and love the location as have stayed here many times both with work and leisure with family and friends the food is excellent and the bar and eating area have a great vibe the bedrooms are exceptionally clean and so comfortable with everything you need even little extras on the tray with chocolates nuts and crisps if you feel peckish it’s really quiet as it’s set back from the main road so you get a really good peaceful nights sleep. Also the outside are and the decking around the property makes it a bit special to sit outside and the views over the lake are amazing - if you are visiting Surrey and need a base near to Guildford / Woking or surrounding areas this is the perfect location to stay at and I would 100% recommend booking in here.

Shalford is a pretty village just south of Guildford, with some beautiful and very old buildings. We had booked a family meal at The Seahorse - service was great, staff very helpful, and the food was delicious with a good range of food options, including veggie and vegan.

Shalford is about 35 minutes walk to Guildford past some of the most beautiful English countryside you could wish for - think old parish churches, winding river and a few really good British gastropubs. It has a Boots and a village shop as well as a cafe and sandwich shop in the center and if you don't want to walk to Guildford, there's a train right there that takes 4 minutes or you can catch a local bus. It's a drive from even more amazing scenery and once in Guildford you can go and see the castle and lots more! Definitely a great place to stay with or without a car. I almost don't want anyone to find out about it!

It was a lovely little cottage, with all the home comforts, it was well kept and very clean. The owners obviously take a great deal of pride in the place. The welcome hamper was a nice touch, with tea bags coffee etc and a pint of milk in the fridge, for that long awaited cuppa! The owners property is next door, so if you need them they are there, although we did not need them. The only issue we had, was with the heating, we couldn`t figure out how to turn it down, there were instructions in a folder, but we struggled to figure them out. I think this was more user error, than anything wrong with the thermostat. I would highly recommend staying here for a short break.
