It is a really well presented hotel with lots of areas other than your room to spend time in. It is walking distance to the sandown train station and really close to the beach and local amenities.

Although the corridors look a little tired, once we got into our room it was spacious and clean. The bathroom looked like it had fairly recently been renovated and was very modern with a lovely shower

Fantastic sandy beach great for swimming which is good enough reason to visit. Although lot of places on front are closed and town looking run down it's still a nice place to visit, there are quite a few really good new beach bars cafes of a high standard opening up.

Beach and sea front In Sandown is beautiful and clean.
Beach and sea front In Sandown is beautiful and clean. Same as most seaside places It has become run down from how I remember it from childhood holidays 60 years ago but it had improved since I was last there 20 years ago.
It is a good base to stay while exploring the island.

Sadly a town in need of huge investment to renovate & modernise. Buildings in a terrible state of ruin. Bandstand was the only nice place for coffee & to eat. And one nice vegan deli, with lovely bread. The beach is a real asset - sandy & a safe shallow sea shore. Such a shame, we would not return to this area.

Sandown has been destroyed by developers buying up the large hotels and then abandoning them. The high street has been decimated and the 2 main high street hotels are derelict. however, we found the people in the pubs & restaurants very friendly. and very close to the town there are several things to do. Like the animal rescue centre,, steam railway centre , Shanklin & Ventnor. If we were to go again we would self cater as the restaurants didn't meet our expectations, apart from the Flanagan Pub.

It's a shame that the high street appears rather run down. More choice of places to eat in the evening would be ideal. Some places closed between 2:30pm and 4:30pm. Transport was pretty good with a selection of buses and a train station making it easy to visit other places.

We actually visited Shanklin beach, as we prefer it a bit quieter. That whole stretch of coastline is beautiful. Easy to park when we visited. We also parked in Shanklin Old Town, although we could have walked, then ambled down through Shanklin Chine, beautiful and cool in the hot sun. Had a lovely lunch at the pub on the beach.
The hotel premises and the room were really well maintained, and Abbie was really helpful with her guidance and personal recommendations to go about the island.we were able to make the most of our time by following her advice and totally loved our holiday there. it's proximity to local public transport and beaches made it super convenient for us to plan our days and spend the evenings on the nearby beach.
The Burlington Hotel is an ideal location to use as a base for sightseeing around the Isle of Wight and it's cheap & cheerful which is a bonus! Some nice restaurants on the sea front.. Didn't try the food in the hotel as was just somewhere to get our head down.. We didn't go for it but loved that they offer packed lunches if you wanted too! Staff were nice and helpful.
Staff at reception were very nice and welcoming. Free to come and go anytime (outside main hours) so days don't feel rushed. Despite the room being a mere £45, it was very clean, comfortable and pleasant. The hotel is also conveniently placed close to both the seafront and the Sandown train station.
Very friendly management and staff who were prepared to go above and beyond for you.
The location to the pier and seafront in Sandown is great as these amenities are within a short walking distance of the hotel.
Free on site parking worth its weight in gold.
Well stocked hotel bar.
Good breakfast. The bathroom was very small with a very compact electric shower. Hotel situated in a good location in a quiet part of Sandown. Handy for the excellent bus network.
