Fabulous town, it’s got culture, it’s got architecture, it’s got a great rugby club, it’s got a busy harbour’ it’s got great cafes and restaurants, a stunning promenade and a lot more besides!
Check out what’s going on at The Acorn Theatre which is brilliant.
For a shortish trip see what’s on at The Minack. Best beaches are Sennen, Porthcurno, the Lelant ones, the St. Ives ones, Hayle Towans and Praa Sands. Perranuthnoe beach is good at low tide.
Go to St Ives by train - the view from St Erth into St Ives is breathtaking !

Glad we got tickets for the Minack Theatre and explored the Gobal Telecommunications Museum, took the Coaster bus several tiimes, including to Land's End and walked the Coastal path to Sennen. Enjoyed the Penlee art gallery, especially in the midst of reading "Summer in February." Enjoyed a meal at the oldest pub, and at the Longboat Inn. The staff at the Info Centre were the best - gave us so many tips and set us on the right buses.

i like walking on the promenade, along to Newlyn, took the Mounts Bay coast path to Marazion, took the bus to Trengwainton gardens- lovely to see the magnolias, rhododendrons and camellias - interesting walks round the gardens and a lovely cafe with friendly staff and good food.
Visited Trewidden gardens by bus and also took the train to St. Ives- a lovely scenic run along the coast.
Penzance town has a nice selection of shops and it is worth exploring the back streets and the area round Chapel street. On previous visits have been to the Morrab gardens and other parks. Penzance is easy to walk round, has a good bus service and the tourist information staff are very knowledgable and helpful.

Went in the end of February, it was a quiet time with everything closing by 10pm, and last buses leaving early, but it's just as lovely if not more so as any other time of the year could be. Even for hiking, if you get ready for the wind, the rain, the fog, the mud and the cold.

We came in February so not very busy.
We came in February so not very busy. Many places to walk around, lovely garden in the center of town. Great beach, St Michael's Mount very close by. St Ives also not far away. Great place as a bae to see Cornwall.
Stayed 5 nights in early December. Smooth check in and out. Friendly, helpful, polite staff. Hotel dates from 1862 so has some character. Room was well heated, clean, tidy and spacious with the usual facilities. Excellent sea view. Well located across from the sea. 10-15 minutes walk to high street, train station and Newlyn. Some bus transport out front. Excellent breakfast available. Plenty of transport from Penzance to sights like Mousehole, Lands End, Porthcurno, St MIchael's Mount, St Ives.
This place is amazing! Every space is beautiful, cozy with a very special energy, the room is very nice decorated, super clean and you have a delicious breakfast included. The location is perfect! Close to the center, the beach and very close to places like st Ives and Lands End.
Ally and Mike were very kind and friendly from our arrival, make you feel like home. We are definitely coming back soon!
The best place we have stayed in Penzance and in Cornwall. Highly highly recommended!
I have stayed at the Longboat several times at this time of year and always enjoyed being there. A great team running this place. Nice rooms and nice breakfasts. Superbly located for Penzance railway station, bus station and Penzance itself. Appreciate the low key approach to New Year’s Eve. Could not recommend the Longboat more highly for an enjoyable stay in West Cornwall, with such an excellent location to explore much that this area has to offer.
Friendly proprietor and the more sociable atmosphere of breakfast in a guest house environment rather than a hotel - an excellent breakfast at that - freshly cooked to guests' 'specifications'. Convenient for buses and trains from Penzance to other Cornish destinations including outstanding views from the South West Coast Path tackled after a hearty breakfast and a packed lunch requested. Access to kitchen facilities are a bonus.
I travel all over Cornwall with work and stay in some of the best Hotels but in Penzance my budget doesn’t stretch far. This quaint little friendly pub is a lovely place to stay. The rooms are very clean and the bed is very comfy! The breakfast which is brought to your room is stunning! Lovely staff that make you feel very welcome. Next door is another pub that serves very good food and again the staff are very friendly.
Very cosy house. The owner thought of everything, the house has all you need for the holiday with family or friends, plus it’s pet friendly.
This was our third time in Penzance, but first tending a cottage instead of hotel, and we will stick with cottage offers from now on :).
Strongly recommend!
Quality hotel, spacious clean comfortable rooms, breakfast cooked to order, welcoming helpful staff. Old traditional hotel that had style. About a 15 minute walk from bus/rail station, but location is superb on promenade with views across to The Lizard and to Newlyn.
We love artist in residence hotels and have stayed at most of them now. Wonderful locations and the Penzance one was particularly well located in the nicest part of the town with lovely artisan shops, coffee houses and bars. Lovely staff and lovely decor.
Had a fantastic time, excellent hosts with great local knowledge. Room nicely furnished, extremely clean.
Great choice for breakfast. No issues with parking. Excellent location.
Would stay again if we return to Penzance.
Wonderful staff, amazing view and completely new renovated rooms. The Ship Inn and the town are both absolutely lovely places to stay - and less hectic than the main "downtown" part of Penzance. Highly recommend this Inn.
The hotel was wonderful and very quaint, and the innkeepers were so charming and affable. We had a lovely stay. They identity your room by but a sign with your first name on the door. We will be back.
The hotel is super lovely. The location is great, very close to the Penzance train station. It has fantastic views and high-quality food. Stuffs there are super friendly and kind. highly recommended!
Our room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. The property was within close walking distance to everything we needed in Penzance. We appreciated the warm welcome and fabulous breakfast!
Cosy cottage perfect for a winter trip to Cornwall, snug lounge with wood burner and comfy furniture. Easy access to St Ives (via beautiful coastal road) Penzance and Newlyn.
The position in the middle of Penzance and the hotel's interesting association with Horatio Nelson. Opposite it's entrance is an amazing Egyptian facade.
