Quaint town in a convenient location for Lake Ullswater and the Lake District. Plenty of variety of restaurants to choose from. Cosy cafes, charity shops and pubs. Great food at The Lounge. Bus station, train station, and even a castle.

Beautiful town with a lot of history embedded. Places one needs to visit include Penrith Castle, Brougham Castle, Long Meg and Daughters. The cafes and restaurants at Penrith are cute and exude that family vibe. Highly recommend to do a stop-over at Penrith.

we visited Penrith as a bit of nostalgia as we used to go frequently in the past. The town was very quiet although we found a very good restaurant, GRANTS, for a delicious evening meal. It used to be a bustling market town which seems to have lost its heart . Maybe internet shopping has affected the economy of the town as is the case in many towns. It is perhaps a useful place to stay to explore the surrounding area which remains beautiful.

We used The Station Hotel as a stop off for a day trip to Scotland and could have stayed longer in Penrith as we barely took a look around. We had some dramas and it is credit to staff and management that they were able to sort booking confusions quickly and professionally. Thanks folks.

Penrith as a great place to base yourself for a stay in the Lake District. It's quieter than the more popular and populous towns of Keswick and Windermere - except in March when it hosts the World Marmalade Festival and, according to Karen and Ali from Blue Swallow Guesthouse, the town is decorated with Paddington Bears and Honey Pots. They even boast having one of the champion marmalade makers stay with them on an annual basis.

Free parking and a bar on site were positives as was the central location.
The advert said that it was a larger than average room but including the bathroom it was no more than 13ft by 8 ft. There was no table or chairs so not a pleasant area to spend any time. The bottom of the outside of the shower had ingrained dirt.
If you fancy homecooked Cumbrian food this is the place to stay and you will enjoy high qiuality raw matrerials used by an excellent cook. Very service minded staff, which is the couple that has converted their home into a B&B. Not the standard of a modern hotel but it clealry has its charm. Located in a quite street a short walk uphill from the town center. On the back side it is only a short walk to the forrest recreactional walking paths. A large garden is nice to be in if the weather allows.
When we arrived in Penrith, we had booked a hotel for the wrong date. Tracy was extremely accommodating letting us stay for the night in one of the best rooms she had available. The bathroom was absolutely beautiful and the bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional. Tracy again going above and beyond to make us comfortable welcome and meeting our requests. A fantastic day we would definitely come in again
Great hotel, very easy to find. Perfect for us as we were traveling with our two small dogs and they are dog friendly. Room was fully equipped and there were little treats left for our daughter and dogs. We ate dinner at the restaurant and had breakfast in the morning and we were happy both times, service and food was great. We will definitely return if we are looking for somewhere to stay in that area.
Everything, was just perfect, we were showen to our room, booked a table for everything , the food was delicious, beds very cosey, bathroom immaculate, would love to return, great value for money, free Parking at back of hotel,, very friendly , helpful staff, nothing was a problem, would recommend to everyone. Loved it ,
The public areas of the George Hotel are very pleasant, with a number of open rooms to have drinks or a meal. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is in a very convenient location in the centre of Penrith, with private parking (although reached by going round the block).
Steve is a fantastic host, he was quick to answer our questions and nothing was too much trouble. His home is lovely and the room was lovely and clean, and the bed was so comfortable! Perfect stay after a days hiking in the lakes.
I will definitely be back to stay again 😊
Great location to explore north lakes /penrith. Lovely wee village with a green /playpark located right beside the hotel. Food was delicious and any changes we wanted to make were accommodated no problem. The staff were fantastic - very helpful and friendly.
Location was perfect for access into Penrith, with an easy stroll into the town centre. The property was nicely furnished and comfortable for a family to stay in, as well as being kitted out with everything you would need for a short, or longer stay.
The hotel was easy to find and was close to the centre of Penrith so had wasy access for shops and restaurants. There were all of the necessary facilities for food and drink preparation and also drying areas and bike space for those who required it.
Very friendly staff. Gave great directions to find the hotel carpark in the maze of one way streets in Penrith. Lovely room, recently refurbished. Huge bathroom. Nothing too much trouble. Food delicious. Would stay again.
Alison was very kind. Bed was comfortable, the shower was powerful, and we found a lovely wine bar nearby to have some drinks.
Additionally, we had a delicious breakfast.
The breakfast was excellent. The service was excellent. The hosts couldn't have been better. Have been at lots of bed and breakfasts and this was one of the best.
