We stayed in the Llechwedd Glamping tents as we wasn’t able to stay at the hotel.
We were very happy with our accommodation, it felt like we were staying in a cabin as opposed to a tent!
It was clean, warm and very comfortable.
The beds were lovely, the shower was fab and we had a fully equipped kitchenette where we cooked some lovely meals.
As there’s no TV, we played board games and cards which was great as these days too much family time can be spent on phones or television/films. We had breakfast on our own terrace and walked our dogs on the Quarry paths early in the morning.
Watching the zip lines across the quarry was fun too!
We had our own log fire which was a lovely treat of an evening whilst playing chess.
Highly recommended.
Perfect for mountain biking and hiking. There are beaches nearby the nearest being Llandudno we went to Barmouth it's about 40 minutes away. Nearest town Betwys, Snowdon about 20 minutes drive but go early morning or you won't be able to park. We did the watkin path and got the last space in the car park at 7am. The shop has most things but if your staying a while do a shop beforehand.

The cottage is just outside the main village of Penmachno.
The cottage is just outside the main village of Penmachno. It is a cottage in a small street of old miners cottages. It is nearby an old slate quarry that closed in the 1960s. Some of the cottages are residential, some are bring refurbished and one or two are run down. There are no shops in the main part of Penmachno, you can drive into Betws-ye-Coed which is approx 20 min drive- it has a Londis abd Spa supermarkets, lots of lovely restaurants to choose from. If you like a quiet peaceful and beautiful location this cottage is perfect. You can go for a walk locally and also explore the old slate quarry
Good location for North Wales- about 45 minute drive to Snowdon. We also had a day white water rafting and canyoning at the Wales White Water Rafting centre which is about 30 minute drive away.

Penmachno is a tiny village set in a beautiful glaciated valley. Full of the historic legacy of the slate industry and modern sheep farming.
We enjoyed walking the Slate Trail from Penmachno to Betws-y-Coed - a 20km whole day trip for able hikers. We parked in the church car park (giving a donation), morning coffee at Conwy Falls, lunch in Betws-y-Coed. Celebratory beers from Londis on our return.
