Lovely accommodation located on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. The staff were really friendly, and extremely helpful. We had two dinners and three breakfasts, and the food was amazing. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The fact that its down the road from Betws-y-coed is probably a plus as it's a lot quieter.

Character hotel with a beautiful view down the valley along side a river . Staff were very engaging and helpful and just a short walk into town . The hotel bar was great and they had a terrace to sit out on a clear day . The room was well appointed and the bed was large and very comfortable. A huge balcony which would be great in the summer .

Queens Hotel, hotel in Penmachno

Located in Blaenau-Ffestiniog and with Portmeirion reachable within 18 km, Queens Hotel provides a garden, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a bar.

I stayed here with my son so that we could go to Zipworld the next morning. The location was brilliant, Zipworld is a few minutes drive away, there are plenty of convenience shops and takeaway options but we chose to sit in at the local curry house. We then had a few drinks in the Hotel bar which is dated but has a well used pool table, lots of locals and noise in the bar which will not be for everyones liking but we enjoyed it. Locals were friendly and music lively, everything was off by 11.30 which enabled a good nights sleep (the beers helped). Room was spacious with a cracking view and everything clean enough. We had breakfast in the morning which was good value for the price paid, £7.95 for a good sized Full Welsh Breakfast including tea. Limited parking but a car park at the back with a broken pay machine came to our rescue, £11 per night if working. It depends on the group you are with, expectations and duration as to this hotell being for you but we would both stay here again.

Penmachno is a tiny village set in a beautiful glaciated valley. Full of the historic legacy of the slate industry and modern sheep farming. We enjoyed walking the Slate Trail from Penmachno to Betws-y-Coed - a 20km whole day trip for able hikers. We parked in the church car park (giving a donation), morning coffee at Conwy Falls, lunch in Betws-y-Coed. Celebratory beers from Londis on our return.

Penmachno itself is a quiet village set in a valley at the base of several mountains. There's not much to do in Penmachno itself but it is well located for getting to lots of tourist places and attractions, particularly the Zip Wire forest sites, underground adventures and waterfalls. There's also the superb Conwy Cafe at the junction with the A5 and the road to Penmachno.

I liked the area but on the other hand we travelled a lot to surrounding areas which are easily within reach. Can't comment much about Penmachno itself except it being quite and with beautiful scenery.
