The Boleyn Hotel, hotel in Ottershaw

The Boleyn Hotel, under new ownership/management is a charming 3 star listed hotel opposite the River Thames dating back to the 16th century.

I stayed here with my 11-year-old son for 2 nights to visit Thorpe Park and Windsor This is such a pleasant area to stay. Very friendly, clean, and quiet. The hotel has exceptionally safe parking at the back, which is securely locked at night. Upon arrival, we were greeted and given direction to our room. We were advised that during our stay, there would be a function and that if we were disturbed, they would be happy to support. - we weren't disturbed. Our room had been thought about in advance, for which I am grateful. Our evening meal was had at the Indian Restaurant that is part of the hotel. This area also serves breakfast. The hotel is around 10 minutes' walk to the bus and train station. Here you can catch the train straight in to London, or like we did, use the direct bus to Thopre Park. Choosing here will base you safely for a pleasant stay in Staines or for access to London and Windsor. I would choose to stay here again when back in the area

    Very nice. Beds comfortable.

Very nice. Beds comfortable. Bathroom big and good if a little tiered. Hot water tap too hot. Bathrobes worn and not soft. Spa facilities great , especially outside heated pools. Staff excellent. Bit if a pain having to go outside to the facilities from the room ( in the cold and rain). Restaurants ok, but not great choice of food and a bit disappointing.

Excellent facilities for families, couples or those just wanting to spend a relaxing few days. It has superb golf and tennis facilities, excellent spa with two pools and an outdoor hot tub and sauna. Friendly and helpful staff and great facilities for children, both indoor and outdoor. There is a lovely woodland walk/trim trail which is great for a leisurely stroll and the three restaurants gives plenty variety of food choices. Foxhills is located in its own extensive grounds in the Surrey Hills, is excellent, while not too far from the M25.

The bed was comfortable. The room was too hot. Only one door opened onto the terrace and we would have liked to open both. the carpet was frayed and room looked tired. Restaurant too dark and gloomy. Just got the feeling that the bar staff were not fully trained, very slow service and also got the feeling that members were given priority treatment. Problems booking health spa, so gave up.

Very friendly staff, lovely room although bathroom sink fittings looked a little worn. Great outdoor pool right by our room which we loved. Stunning setting Dinner menu needed more choices. Digital menus annoying. Cocktail list needed details of ingredients Overall we had a lovely stay.

The venue is beautiful and the grounds stunning.

The venue is beautiful and the grounds stunning. The majority of the staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful and professional particularly the Receptionists, the bar and the golf shop. Breakfast has good choices and the menu in XIX is varied and enjoyable. We have stayed at Foxhills a few times now and have always enjoyed everything. However we have noticed a few changes in standards this stay. For example the dinner choices in the Fox restaurant are few and the quality of the meals were variable- 1 of our starters was inedible. Our room was lovely- spacious and clean and well equipped however some things needed attention such as the reading light which was very overheated and dangerous to touch, half the frenchdoor did not open and the shower lost its pressure at times. Most disappointing was not being able to re-enter our room at 11:05am on our departure date. We had a 10am breakfast slot but breakfast service was slow and we returned to our room at 11:05 to collect our bags and could not get in. I would have thought a 15min leaway might be acceptable in view of the last breakfast booking being 1030. Despite how busy Foxhills is, it always feels calm and relaxing.

Good facilities, lovely rooms, very cosy.

Good facilities, lovely rooms, very cosy. Helpful, friendly but professional staff. Sunday carvery and buffet good, but not as special in presentation, variety and quality as it was at the time we frequented Foxhills, but then the current price does not equate to what would be charged for the previous, very high standard.

We had a lovely stay in one of the courtyard rooms. Great Size Room. Food was also very nice in the Hotel and Number 19. Staff were a little hit and miss. Some staff were superb especially in number 19 however some staff in the hotel bar and restaurant need a bit of leadership. The staff who were superb made up for the poorer ones but some training and guidance from management would help.

We stayed for 2 nights and the facilities were lovely. Although the hotel was fully booked, you couldn’t tell as there was always space to use the spa, outdoor pool and fitness centre. We also really enjoyed the relaxed and buzzy nineteen restaurant.

Love the hotel, and the facilities, the auto gratuity I think was a bit cheeky when just buying a drink at the bar and breakfast was really cold. Would go back again though as generally it is great for children and adults and set in lovely grounds.
