Room was lovely, although a little noisy from 6am due to traffic. It was clean and comfortable. Food was good and staff very friendly. Great location for walks.

Welcome groceries were high quality, a good range and definitely needed after our long drive. Wine fridge a definitely bonus and an exceptionally well equipped kitchen so useful for cooking and enjoying Mel’s with friends. The entire property was outstandingly clean. We’ll definitely be back.

The property is tucked away and the area is very quiet and scenic. The views from the house are unbelievable and there’s a lovely little pub that’s 5 minutes down the lane and serves amazing food.

We stayed in Saddleworth especially for Whit Friday celebrations and although the weather was mixed, it didn’t disappoint. We had beautiful blue skies for our walk in this part of the Peak District. Big skies and rolling moorland, very restorative

While Oldham town centre is much like many others you'd visit, the scenery in the nearby pennines is something else entirely. Walking, cycling and driving are all very enjoyable and there are loads of different routes to take. Snake's pass is a local favourite for motorcyclists. There are loads of beauty spots, just pick a route across from Oldham to Yorkshire and plan to stop for a picnic. One thing you should try in Oldham is a curry or kebab. Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi populations have been long established in the area and the food is affordable and fabulous even from the most basic of take-aways. After moving away from Oldham, I've found the standard of this cuisine isn't matched in many other places.

The room is not children friendly.
The room is not children friendly. It is untidy and the bin is rusty and filled with rotten dirt. The walls have mould and its peeling and the bed sheets are so dirty. The TV remote had no batteries and I couldn't find a way to turn on the heater for my children. When I chatted the host on how to do this, he responded okay. The host is also very rude and a liar. The room I was offered to stay with my kids and wife is room 1 but I rejected it and I had to get a hotel on another platform as booking.com could not provide one. It was a terrible experience for me and my family

Love coming home to Oldham, a trip to watch the latics, followed by seeing family and friends cant be beat
Make sure you check out the many great places to eat, such a great cultured atmosphere.
Transport links are perfect, people are down to earth and its always worth a visit
I love staying here. The service, the location, the rooms and the breakfast are spot on and great value for money. I have stayed at much more expensive hotels and I have to say that BW Smokies is comparable, if not better in most instances. Anytime I am up in North Manchester visiting family. I have no hesitation in booking this place. The last time I stayed my wife came with and she loved it also. Great effort team Smokies.
I stayed at the Grains Bar because it was just an hour's drive away from Manchester Airport and I was flying the next day. The hotel is located just outside Oldham in a very pleasant rural setting. My (double) room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and all the amenities I needed. I particularly enjoyed the complimentary light breakfast although I can't say I enjoyed the loud music which accompanied it.
The host was amazing. Had a problem with the shower and despite it being a bank holiday it was sorted super quickly.
Facilities were top notch and the house is central to lots of walks, coffee shops and a local supermarket. You can reach pubs, canals and tourists attractions on foot. The train station is in walking distance for trips into Manchester.
Easy to find location and centrally located to Oldham city center (15 minute walk to downtown Oldham). Host greeted me warmly and showed me around the home, then after assuring I was comfortable and settled in, she politely vanished to allow me privacy. The room is huge and comfortable, with a comfy chair and enough room to really feel at home.
Good location to Manchester tram nearby. Rooms ok and clean but dated but for the price ok. Big credit to Lorraine the Receptionist she dealt with some tricky customer's in a very professional manner on a bank hol weekend. We will come back again due to good location and nice staff.
really good location not far from the city centre Manchester, everything was clean, the staff was great and helpful! the breakfast was exceptional I can’t fault anything at all I’d love to come back again!
Proximity to Oldham town centre with local buses to Manchester and surrounding areas. It's a basic hotel as reflected in the price but for a no frills business it has all that is needed for a decent stay.
