Although dog friendly the whole place was spotless, nicely decorated room with everything you needed, the staff were all friendly and knowledgeable, good food available for dinner and a great cooked breakfast offered even a sausage for Daisy the dog. We were visiting for my daughter's wedding so didn't do a lot of sightseeing but can recommend Blas at Fronlas as a cafe as well as accommodation and also the Secret Garden for evening food. Pretty scenery. Can also recommend Nantwen as a wedding venue. Just a pointer, if you have limited mobility the parking is down a long hill in a public pay and display and there are a few steps up to the beautiful rooms above the cafe. Blas at Fronlas Cafe shuts at about 3.30 but guests have a key for the front door and if you need it a ring doorbell. We felt so welcome.

Blas at Fronlas was like a home from home. The hosts were so friendly. We were there for my daughter's wedding and we felt like members of their family with lots of hugs given and received. The breakfasts were great and the cafe was really popular although we didn't eat any cake it all looked delicious and it was homemade. The rooms were super cute and really comfortable and clean and we even had a little packet of welsh cakes. We would stay here again if we were in Newport.
Building itself is full of character and looks wonderful from outside.
Could be a wonderful place to stay once issues are sorted.
Location was good; we know Newport very well so knew where this was in relation to everything.
Kitchen was well-equipped (despite a frying pan that smelt of fish upon using)
Showers were decent too.
Grove Park had all the facilities we needed - comfy bed, great shower & delicious breakfast hamper. The area was very quiet and had a lovely sunny patio area. Our host was very friendly and considerate. Right on the Wales coastal path for hikers and central to Newport too. Would definitely stay again and recommend.
Hotel has been modernised and is located in beautiful settings .
Comfortable room and generous breakfast with reasonably priced evening meals - all provided by friendly staff.
