I really fell on my feet when I booked this hotel. A beautiful old building with a lovely outside area to sit and relax and take in the magnificent views. The hosts are super friendly and helpful. The drinks at the bar were quite cheap which is a surprise these days. The whole hotel is clean throughout and my room was very big and a super comfy bed.
After a relaxing night's sleep I had a top notch cooked breakfast and carried on my way by bicycle. I really enjoyed my stay here.

Breakfast was good. Room was fine, if perhaps a little tired in places. Staff were friendly. The location meant a drive to find somewhere to eat in the evening.

Lovely room with some unique and personal touches. Gorgeous bathroom and coffee, tea, water and biscuits in the room - with some real milk in the mini fridge. Gemma was very helpful and came out to sort a small problem even though it was after 9pm

We were in 2 rooms and they were both very comfortable and well stocked.
We had an evening meal there and also a breakfast. All of the food was well cooked and delicious.
The service we received from every member of staff was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble.

A quiet village on the main roads from Newtown to Llandrindod Wells. There are no facilities or visitor attractions in the village but the Lion Hotel is well located for walking and trips to mid-Wales attractrions.
I booked last minute for work, made payment which the hotel took immediately. I emailed the hotel at the time of booking to confirm I would be arriving late. I did not receive an acknowledgement. We tried calling them all evening while on route but they did not answer their phones. Arrived late and no one around to check me in. Denied receiving email, or getting calls despite screenshots of the call log, no apologies, sympathy and refused to refund for a stay which didn't happen as they can't use their own communication channels.
The location of the hotel is beautiful 🤩 both Janet & Ray were delightful hosts. The meals were plentiful and good value for money. Maria and other bar staff were friendly and helpful. We had an enjoyable two days stay and would definitely return. Highly recommended.
Wonderful hosts in a lovely, welcoming country hotel. Delightful room with little extras, 'just in case'!
We enjoyed a delicious evening meal and an equally sumptuous cooked breakfast. We would definitely stay at The Lion again! 😍
The staff were very friendly and gave us some local knowledge of the area. We had undercover parking for our motorbikes which was great. The food in the Hotel is excellent and the rooms were very clean.
fabulous traditional puv/hotel with staff going over and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. Even gave us a lift to the start of our walk and the owners were great company....they do Radnorshire proud.
The hotel is nice and traditional the rooms are ok, we were made very welcome and the evening meal was great, our breakfast was good and filling ready for a long day, we would go again...
This is truly a unique place, it feels more like a guest house than a pub hotel and the owners are very warm and welcoming with nothing being to much trouble. The views are stunning.
