The room we had was in the annex across the courtyard at the back of the hotel and this suited us very well. The room itself was huge and full of character with original beams. Dinner in the evening was delicious, as was breakfast the following morning and our dog was made to feel very welcome. All the staff were lovely and looked after us very well.

With parts of the building dating back 700 years, this former coaching inn stands on the market square in the ancient city of Ripon, at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales.
