My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights this past weekend and it exceeded our expectations. The host was so lovely from the moment we checked in to the second we left! It is a beautifully refurbished hotel, and the attention to detail is amazing! We stayed in room 2, and it was perfect. A lovely comfy bed and an en-suite was perfect for our stay. We were leaving before breakfast was served on Sunday morning but that was not a problem for the host who made us both up a takeaway breakfast bag which included a yogurt, banana, granola bar and an orange juice each which was thoroughly enjoyed. We were then served an excellent breakfast on the Monday morning before checking out. I had the poached egg and avocado on toast & my boyfriend had sausages on a roll. We both thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast and stay overall, and will definitely return to this hotel in the future. Nothing was too much trouble! Can not recommend it enough!

Offering sea views, Birkenshaw - Beautiful Shepherd’s Hut in the Highlands. Is an accommodation set in Dornoch, 8 km from Royal Dornoch Golf Club and 16 km from Dunrobin Castle.

Lovely location. Everything provided. The sort of place thta would be better in the summer as the facilities are spread out, like real camping. But a lovely cosy hut to retreat to and the wood stove is excellent.

Golspie is a lovely place to stay & the Glenshee was perfect we had a small twin room which didn’t have a kettle in the room but you could make tea or coffee anytime in the eating area, breakfast was fantastic we were full all day. The hosts couldn’t have done any more to welcome us & make our stay as easy & comfortable as possible.

Golspie is a very pleasant town that offers good local attractions - such as Dunrobin Castle which is well worth a visit, including a captivating falconry display. Walkers are well catered for with the coastal path - taking the train to Brora and walking back along the coast to Golspie is a good day's outing. The climb up Ben Bragghie is a steep pull but offers stunning views and a close up view of Golspie's famous landmark: first Duke of Sutherland's statue. Golspie has plenty of parking and a reasonable range of shops. It is a bit short of cheap and cheerful restaurants. The Stag Hotel offers reasonable bar food but beware - it's kitchen tends to close very early in the evening!

Lovely locals. Didn't go in the pub, but there was one. Couple of wee coffee shops and a chippy. Co-op and Nisa shops on the door step. Not the prettiest beach in the world, but I was still more than happy to walk on it every morning. Great wee town, I would move their tomorrow.

My child loved the play facilities (and in one park, they have exercise-style ones, too). He liked walking along and discovering play parks. Seaside, and especially the Big Burn Walk, which is really beautiful. We could have spent more time exploring. We felt safe in Golspie except for the main road, where heavy traffic is too fast considering how close it is to pedestrians on the fairly narrow pavements. We spent a long time in the shop that sells gem stones as my son was fascinated and delighted to be allowed to touch the difffferent stones. He asked whether they might have magical powers! People in Golspie were all very pleasant. A good place for a short break.
