Well appointed hotel in our home town - we had to vacate home for a night due to an emergency. The room we were given was really big (apparently it’s the honeymoon suite!), with a decent tv, nice bathroom, and the amenities - like nice shower gels, a hair dryer etc. - you’d expect when paying more than £100 per night. The bed was really comfortable, and the pillows and covers were snuggly. The room was double aspect, and had a nice palette of greens to the walls and covers etc. there was a decent kettle and a good number of both caffeinated and decaffeinated offerings on the tea tray.

Can not pick a fault with the rose and crown it's nice comfortable friendly place to stay. It's my second year of staying here now. Both times have been for 2 nights, just a perfect location, easy to find, and parking opposite the venue and only 45 minutes away from goodwood races. I will book here again next year for when I go to goodwood .
The pub has nice selection beers and a nice simple menu, and the food is amazing, just a perfect place to stay for a couple of nights.

This property gave reasonable value for money for the location. We liked having our own space rather than staying in a hotel room. Generally, the property was clean and the linen was spotless. Fans were provided for use on hotter days and they did a great job. There were nice views from the dormer windows. The kitchen was very well equipped and had everything we needed. Had we been staying for longer, the laundry room would have been very useful. It was possible to walk to the station for access to other areas.

Godalming is a lovely little town, fairly flat and interesting to walk around.
It is a good base to other areas too. We went to the Watts Gallery and Chapel, it was the prime reason for our visit and we weren’t disappointed. It is also close to Guildford with really good London links.

Nice town, which we'd not visited for nearly 50 years - the first, apparently, to be lit by electric light (1881). It's a super high street, and there's a nice riverside park with a colonnade dedicated to Jack Phillips, who was the wireless operator on the Titanic. He also gives his name to the town's Wetherspoons! The Surrey Hills countryside around Godalming is really lovely too.

I wasn’t coming for pleasure so had dinner in the hotel both nights. Just 3 parking spaces ludicrous. However, public car park free after 6.30pm right through Sunday. But as I had arrived on Friday it would have cost more into Saturday morning. The room 104 was small and over the kitchen air con units. On the plus side, short corridor outside and no upper storey so blissfully quiet. Would have preferred a bath.

Do not stay at the Inn on the Lake, unless you have come into money.
If you have stay somewhere else anyway.

Godalming is an attractive small town on the edge of the Surrey Hills. We’re regular visitors, our daughter and family live there. The area around the high street has some good shops, nice restaurants, pubs and it seems like there’s a new coffee shop opening each week.

An interesting little town that has retained much of its character despite morphing into another notch in the London commuter belt. The centre has some good independent shops. The park has a poignant memorial to the radio operator on the Titanic. The meadows next to the Wey navigation offer pleasant walks. The woods at Winkworth arboretum are spectacular all year round. Road and rail links to London and the south coast are very good.

The hotel is fabulous (just like the photos), in the main street of Godalming just 10 minutes walk from the station. I booked a single room and when I arrived, they had upgraded my room to a beautiful, luxury and spacious double roomI! The staff is very kind, the breakfast was great! I'll definitely come back!
Cheap hotel wanted to enable us to attend local beer festival.. very cheap so didn't expect much and it was perfectly adequate for a one night stay. Of note the proprieter was lovely- I asked for extra double sheet to sleep under as find quilts too hot & he obliged with a smile!
