I was greeted like a returning guest as I have stayed here before.
I was upgraded to the large family room which is downstairs.
I was informed of the slight noise from the kitchen extractor units however this had no impact whatsoever.
The room was large comfortable and clean.
The bathroom had both a bath and separate shower cubicle.
The hotel breakfast is all freshly cooked and has a wonderful selection of fruits, juices pastries.
All of the staff are super friendly and happy to help.

Set around the Exe River, affluent Exeter has played a part in English history from the Roman era to William the Conqueror to the Spanish Armada. Its most impressive structure is the cathedral, begun in the 11th century and boasting the longest stone roof in England.
The surrounding green is a popular picnic spot, and the half-timbered buildings and red-brick façades of the neighbouring High Street house a host of shops. Even more are in the Princesshay and Guildhall shopping centres.
The Guildhall itself is considered England’s oldest municipal building still in use, while nearby Parliament Street is one of the world’s narrowest streets. The remains of 11th-century St Nicholas Priory are now a museum, and there are more red-stone ruins at hilltop Exeter Castle (or Rougemont Castle), built into the Roman walls.
Exeter Central Station is behind the castle, while St Davids Station is nearer the university. The large student population means that the city has good nightlife, and some bars are located by the Quayside, site of Custom House. The river flows past Topsham and Powderham Castle to enter the sea at Exmouth.
To the east are Exeter Airport and the Westpoint Arena exhibition centre, both easily reached from Booking.com’s hotels with spas, cheap apartments and guest houses with parking.

I have booked and stayed with HI for the last 14 years. You know what you are going to get. Its consistently good and the rooms are regularly updated. Always so very clean. Beds are great. Breakfast was so so good. best yet in fact. Staff were tidy and friendly and could not help us enough. We did not want to book out.....a real treat and the icing on the cake THEY ACCEPT DOGS. Why on earth hotels dont allow dogs is beyond me. A huge thank you to all at this hotel.

Exeter is a lovely place , however, if driiving it is a nightmare lots of one way streets nowhere to stop if lost , almost no on street parking (unless a payment machine is there ) this is especially frustrating if visiting the royal hospital as the car park cannot cope , and all the surrounding roads are double yellow lines , many people driving around in circles missing appointments and getting angry.

Exeter quay is vibrant, attractive and a lovely area to visit. We walked along the canal whilst others paddled to a lovely pub called double locks. Lunch was excellent at the pub. Evening at local gin distillery- quayside gins which again was excellent. Only stayed one night but would highly recommend.
You couldn't ask for a better hotel. A warm reception from the reception staff was an indication of the quality of the rest of our stay. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and functional and everything worked as it should. A small bar was welcome after a day out. Breakfast was amazing, a selection of fruit cereals and a full breakfast with a variety of choices. The centre of Exeter is an easy walk as are the railway stations.
Oakcliffe wasa wonderful place to stay while we stopped over in Exeter. The locations was very close to the train station and to downtown. The room was comfortable and clean. Best of all, Lorraine, our host, was absolutely delightful! She was truly wonderful and extremely helpful. Breakfast was also delicious. Overall, a great place to stay, we would definitely stay again.
Clean, modern, excellent staff especial the general manager who was truely exceptional at his task. We enjoyed an 8th floor room with balcony overlooking the cathedral, full length glass doors let in so much light.an unexpected gem ( once you found the hotel as you need to navigate a couple of alley ways from either taxi or bus) So central to the best of Exeter experience
Excellent city centre location. Rooms was well equipped - with nice touches. Very comfortable bed and super clean room. It is s above a pub and on the main thoroughfare in Exeter so some noise from the street to be expected. Value for money for city centre room was excellent. We used a local overnight city centre car park which was safe and reasonably priced.
On arrival we were welcomed by Paula, It was a warm & friendly welcome to the Hotel, set in lovely surroundings. The hotel had a lot of character, reflecting in the age and history of the building. Close to local amenities, bus route to Exeter town centre. The staff were friendly & helpful. The breakfast was 1st class, with a good selection to suit all.
When I am in Exeter I always stay at this hotel. I love everything about it. For me now, it feels like home! You will never find a better breakfast! Staff always amazing and the rooms are so comfortable and contains everything you need. Will not stay anywhere else!
The accommodation is close to the center of Exeter, a short walk to the downtown. The apartment is spacious and bright. Sheena was a great host, answering all our questions within few minutes. This was the best accommodation we had on our tour of England.
It was spacious and nicely decorated.
It was very close to the city centre and the university.
We were able to eat in using the cooking facilities as well as eat out in local restaurants.
Being able to park the car outside the apartment was a bonus.
I’m a lecturer at the university. I enjoy the peace, tranquility and professional the hotel offers. Hotel du Vin always works well for my monthly work trips to Exeter. Helen always makes the breakfast special. Reception service is impeccable.
The location right in the centre of Exeter for shopping and eating out. The Breakfast was excellent, the staff are friendly, happy smiley faces, always helpful and can't do enough for you. Have recommended this hotel to family and friends.
