It was nice to have traditional English breakfast in an old English house. The area, the house and the garden were beautiful. The brief conversation with the erudite host (Gregory) was a bonus.

We had a fantastic stay at the Gables. Angus is an entertaining host who was there to welcome us on our arrival. We were made to feel at home. The house is beautifully maintained and the furniture comfortable and in keeping with the style of the house. Our room was huge. The bed is bespoke and equally as vast as the room.
Our breakfast was well cooked and the produce local.
Angus' recommendations were very helpful. His suggestion to extend our planned walk to take in even better views paid off.
We had a great time at the Gables and would recommend it for short stays similar to our visit or to use as a base for a longer trip to explore the amazing landscape that surrounds the area.

It had lots of history.. the host told us all about it.
Also had a river at the bottom of the garden to which the hosts have fishing rights.. so my husband had a few hours on there.

The cottage is not in East Ord, but a small community called Scremerston. It’s on a quiet road just off the A1, with lots of good walks for the dogs.
There is an excellent cafe a short walk up the road , which does reasonable priced full breakfast. ie bacon butty £3.20, plus fantastic cakes.
All places of interest are within a short driving distance. Really a very nice quiet area to stay.
