We were on the 4th floor.Sea view room. It was perfect. Bathroom was spotless. We had dinner in the bar each evening and was gorgeous and very reasonable more than enough. The bar staff were very friendly and the people cleaning the rooms were very good.Location was great walking distance to everything. In other reviews people complained about the lift.Well I have to say we were there for 6 days and we were not left waiting. Would go back there in a heart beat.Thank you to all in The Empress Hotel for making our holiday such a happy event.

Loved the whole island! Douglas was interesting. We visited the Manx museum (highly recommended) and took a personal ancestry tour with Jane Hodson, local guide. My family was originally from IOM.The history and culture are fascinating.
Good restaurants: Costal & 1826
The bus system is easy to navigate and we used it to get around town and to the airport.

Douglas is a delightful place to stay in, in its own right - lovely large bay, great beach, well cared for sea front. Plenty of places to eat and drink. An excellent museum. Loads of shops. Lovely long, wide promenades. Interesting maritime heritage.. We just loved it. And ideally placed to travel the length and breadth of the island by bus or trains.

I like Douglas as I feel it is very safe and people there are very friendly and nice. I mostly take bus to move around or walk since the weather is not hot and I feel good to walk there especially the coastal walk. I like the ice cream! Overall very good impression. How good if I live there. ( From Malaysia)

The famous TT races had just finished the day before our arrival and clearly the Island was resting after a busy 2 weeks. Some places were unexpectedly closed as a result (we assumed)!
Experiencing the various modes of transport - Steam, Horse drawn, Electric railways was an experience/ As was the trip to Snaefell (not to be done in inclement weather.

Douglas seems to have everything!
Douglas seems to have everything! The restaurants are many and varied and range from the simple to sophisticated. There are bus services everywhere, and taxis arrive promptly. Shopping is easy, and all the services I needed were centrally located. The Queen scallops are worth a detour.
Steve and Maria were excellent hosts- warm and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent. The bed was incredibly comfortable and perfect after a long day of exploring. The B&B is well placed on the Promenade in an excellent location. Glenfaba is excellent value for money. This was my first visit to the Isle of Man but it won't be my last. Next time I'm on the island, I'll stay at Glenfaba again. Thank you for your hospitality, Steve and Maria!
The hotel was modern and had some lovely decor and well displayed posters of the isle of man.The toiletries In the bathroom were of a good quality and the tea making facilities were well stocked daily..The hotel had some lovely little touches like chocolates and a sleepy tea bag which were placed on our bed each evening..
The dining room was very traditional and the choice at breakfast was extensive and would suit all tastes.
The apartments themselves were super spacious and well furnished. Each flat had its own heating you could control which was lovely, and there were tons of nice little additions such as a carton of fresh milk for tea and a fully kitted out kitchen. The views of the Quay and Douglas Head are amazing, and our son just loved window gazing. The receptionist was also lovely, providing extra tea and assistance when requested.
Staff are so nice and helpful. Fabulous breakfast. Nice large, comfortable rooms. Nice bar. Minutes from the beach front. Lovely 10mins walk along the front to the centre of Douglas. 10 mins in the other direction to the electric train service to Laxey, and Ramsey. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Great value and I will absolutely return here next time I am on the Isle of Man.
Ideal location just outside of Douglas plenty of parking and I was able to park outside the owners garage. Very large property with lots of communal space to sit and relax in lounge and conservatory with great views across the Bay. Host was very helpful and for our first Visit to the Isle of Man could not have wanted more.
The hotel offered an amazing menu for breakfast that we were very impressed with. The hotel itself was in a perfect location in Douglas and so easy to get to from the ferry port. The architecture of the building was stunning and the owners and staff were so friendly, we definitely recommend this hotel to others.
Spacious room, comfortable bed, great shower in a decent sized bathroom with complimentary toiletries. Loved breakfast, cereal/toast/fruit juice/tea or coffee, what more do you need? Would recommend The Penta if you're looking for a reasonably priced hotel along Douglas Promenade, we certainly hope to be back.
Location was perfect right in the middle of the Promenade. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room very clean and spacious with bay windows overlooking the bay. Breakfast buffet was wonderful with many options. Hotel bar was very nice with good service and great bar menu. Several dining options for food.
The hotel was ideally located being close to the centre of Douglas, on the promenade, a bus stop right outside as well. The room that we had was excellent it was large, but the view wasn't good, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom big.
Convenient and comfortable hotel that was very easy to find as it was in a central location on the Douglas promenade with views of the ocean. It was a good base for our explorations of the Isle of Man. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
lovely hotel, tastefully modernised without spoiling the original character, great service, very good breakfast. we had a ground floor Art Deco room lovely but no view. very good location at North end of Douglas promenade.
Breakfast was well cooked and nicely presented. An important message, for less mobile visitors, is that this hotel has a lift. There are many similar hotels along the front in Douglas, but very few have a lift.
