Last year Douglas appeared a bit slow and quiet.
Last year Douglas appeared a bit slow and quiet. This year there seems to have been a real improvement. New very smart bars and coffee shops. The shopping centre has also improved with really good high quality shops. So easy to book a meal in any of the restaurants and also quite a few of the hotels welcomed diners who were non residents. Overall a pleasant friendly vibe to the area around the Empress and Sefton hotel. The Casino hotel and surrounding area very poor, shabby exteriors really needs an upgrade in that vicinity

Wasn't very impressed with Douglas.
Wasn't very impressed with Douglas. A bit run down and promenade was too long to walk especially if you have walking difficulties. Too spread out. Beach has stones and not sand and scaffolding was up in front of it.

Went with my friend who was born and lived on the island until she left to go to University, never lived there permanently after that. I go with her once a year she to visit family and me to visit old haunts I used visit many years ago when I went to the island with my parents and have never fallen out of love with the island. We always go to Peel when on the island to kick the rock at the end of prom as it is said that if you kick the rock you will always come back.
The hotel was modern and had some lovely decor and well displayed posters of the isle of man.The toiletries In the bathroom were of a good quality and the tea making facilities were well stocked daily..The hotel had some lovely little touches like chocolates and a sleepy tea bag which were placed on our bed each evening..
The dining room was very traditional and the choice at breakfast was extensive and would suit all tastes.
Smart rooms, which were kept spotlessly clean. Twin double glazed windows virtually eliminated any noise from the street behind the property. All the features one would expect of a four star hotel:fridge, safe, ironing equipment, telephone etc. Towels and complimentary items refreshed every day. Excellent service and food. Fantastic breakfast menu. Great location within Douglas.
Great Hotel, great food and great staff always keen to help all the way from house keeping to the restaurant staff.
I played golf at Mount Murray which is attached to the hotel and I enjoyed the Hotel Spa afterwards which I recommend.
This must be the best Hotel on the Isle of Man as they smashed it in every department.
Looking forward to booking again .
Convenient location, just a minute to a bus stop that takes you into Douglas centre or a 15 min walk to the centre. Single room had drawer and hanging space with decent hangers, shower was powerful and electric so no worries about it being hot. Breakfast was hot as freshly cooked (which I don’t find is usually the case at large chain hotels) and plentiful.
First time on the Isle of Man, we have booked already to return next year. The hotel is amazing, atrium is relaxing and an amazing touch to the hotel. Breakfast has alot of choice. The staff were very friendly, couldn't fault our visit.
