Beautiful village, equipped with pubs, and lovely cafes, food at the Bull pub is good but rather expensive, area is very popular, even on weekday evenings, parking can be a bit difficult but we generally found space in the village hall car park.

The Museum of Art and Craft is lovely: compact, making it possible to absorb what you're seeing. There are interesting shops, businesses and houses to see. And at least two good pubs (we sampled the excellent food at The Bull and enjoyed the beer and garden at The White Horse).

The museum and Art Gallery/shop dedicated to Eric Gill is terrific and there are many interesting Tudor buildings . There is easy access to Ditchling Beacon and the South Downs Way with wonderful views of rolling farm land. Many varieties of birds wildflowers and butterflies can be seen. There are great tea shops . One has a Vera Lynne theme with waitresses in black frocks with white frilly aprons and 30 s music playing .The Green Welly also does great cakes and light lunches. The White Horse wins a special mention for the varieties of dog which can be seen in an evening, a lovely garden and good food . The Bull has more sophisticated and pricier food , great staff and decor.

The room was very nicely decorated, you felt comfortable the moment you arrived. There were some really nice touches, the Digital Radio, Dyson Fan, and Coffee Maker, everything you could need. The bathroom was a good size, towels heated ready, and the shower was superb. I'd highly recommend the food as well in the restaurant. Parking was easy and right next to the hotel.

The hotel was pleasant but pricy - one should not have to pay in addition for breakfast, which was reasonable but not especially good value for money.
