We stayed at Cadshaw country views Aug 2024 as we were attending a wedding in the area. I booked 12 months in advance and Jude was really proactive and kept in touch.

We stayed 1 night while dropping my son at Uni, but were also celebrating our wedding anniversary. we had an evening meal at The Millstone, the menu had a lot of choice and there was a specials menu too and the food was both excellently cooked and presented, the restaurant was busy with a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. We had a cooked breakfast the following morning which was also very good with a continental selection available too.
I would heartily recommend The Millstone and will definitely be going back.

Darwen is my home town so it would have been nice to stay a little longer in order to catch up with a few more friends and family.
This is the first time we have stayed at The Whitehall but it won’t be the last. We were made to feel so welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed the short time we spent there.

The breakfasts were a farce , no supervision of staff , a manager was no where to be seen. They ran out of several basics and the food on the buffet was stewed and dried up. No bowls and the waitress thought muesli was the same as granola.
Fawty towers springs to mind!!!!

A good traditional hotel. Helpful friendly staff.
A good traditional hotel. Helpful friendly staff. Good breakfasts. Our standard room with bathroom was absolutely fine, really clean and with all facilities, but a little small, should have booked a bigger room. Nice bar and lounge area. Lovely terrace and gardens, had it been summer.

The pub itself is fantastic - the road to it is not.
The pub itself is fantastic - the road to it is not. Careful driving is needed and a small car a good thing. Unusually though, it has a train station right below it (request stops) so you wouldn't need to travel by car. Dogs are very well catered for.
