Incredible location and views, staff very friendly and we had plenty of peace and quiet even in the public areas (clearly plenty of guests staying, but didn’t feel like they’d packed us in like sardines!)

Charming property in a great location, the Beatrix Potter features gave the hotel lots of character and was a really enjoyable, relaxing overnight stay. The gardens were exceptional and we we lucky enough to have room with a view of both the gardens and the lake from the top floor.

a nicely appointed 'grand house' at the end of a long driveway. This meant that the property was quiet and secure. On-site parking for the motorcycles was excellent, being next to the main entrance. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were of a good size, and well maintained. the food was pleasant and of good value.

The cottage was absolutely beautiful, a real home from home.
The cottage was absolutely beautiful, a real home from home. It was equipped with everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. Views from the cottage were lovely looking over the countryside. The garden was nice although we didn't sit out but is ideal for anyone with children or dogs as its fully enclosed. The roads to the cottage were quite narrow but certainly didn't put us off, as this is the case with a lot of roads in the area. It was ideally located 15 mins from Windermere and same to Kendal. Would recommend the Old Watermill pub for eating out, they are dog friendly and the food is beautiful but not too pricey. Will definitely book again.

The facilities are dated and all be aware the dogs are noisy especially if left in rooms on their own , and with being a dog friendly hotel , it should be identified that the rooms are not up to the cleanliness of a normal hotel, any movement in the night, the dogs bark and when one starts, they all go for it.

We loved the location but you need transport.
We loved the location but you need transport. If you are looking for peace and quiet in a rural location this is a great location.
It is only a 15 min drive into Bowness so a busier, tourist location is nearby. The location is good for both central and south Lakes. We would recommend.

Not much to say because there isn't much in the village except a very nice pub/restaurant. However, returning to the solitude of the village after a day with the tourist masses in Windermere, Ambleside etc is welcome. There are some lovely walks around the village into the hills, though we didn't tread them on this occasion.

Liked that the location although it seemed a bit out of the way was very tranquil, and considering how busy bowness was, it was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle, but a good location for driving to and from the lakes. The hotel itself in parts looked a bit dated, but was very clean, pool and steam room were good, didn't use the gym so can't comment, overall it is a hotel I would definitely return to.
Staff were super friendly. Kate on reception was really kind and welcoming - our little boy loved her! Kate was very accommodating in making sure we were happy with our room and okay walking to the other side of the hotel with our toddler. Breakfast was also delicious - plentiful and excellent quality. Slept incredibly well - bedroom was spotless and very comfortable. Bathroom was modern and the bath was super - roll top and views out onto the grassed fields!
The 2nd room we were given was a vast improvement on the first which was shocking. We paid £195 per night and were shown into a small dank room with a broken dressing table a tiny grubby bathroom. We had to stay in this room for 1 out of our 3 night stay. The subsequent room was an improvement, a decent size and a much larger bathroom which was clean and well maintained. The hotel waiting staff were excellent, very friendly and efficient.
The hotel staff were great. Pleasant, helpful, and friendly. The location was a little hard to get to, but close to Lake Windemere, but on a heavy traffic narrow road. However the food was very good. Breakfasts were good and promply served and the dinners were excellent and generous portions. The setting was scenic and quiet.. It was a pleasant stay overall, in spite of the accessibility issues.
Everything about this hotel was perfect!
Beautiful building, interia decoration and furnishings.
Calm and relaxing ambiance!
Food was exceptional.
Staff are most friendly and welcoming!
This place has everything you need and more.
I will be returning whenever I next visit the lakes.
Thank you for a wonderful experience.
The hotel is in a beautiful setting. Very picturesque place. Our rooms were really lovely. I travelled with my sister in law and we both had a room with a four poster bed. Lovely en-suites. Great place for getting into windermere and surrounding areas.
Staff were lovely. Food was great.
The chef and the restaurant staff were exceptional. The food was good . The entire staff at the hotel did exceptionally well. It was my wife's birthday and the hotel surprised us with a flower and a birthday card during our dinner. They also write happy birthday on her desert.
It was very spacious and clean room, with complimentary treats, perfect breakfast service and friendly staff. We have used pool facilities, sauna and jacuzzi without any additional charge. Beautiful garden to sit and relax. Hotel located 10min max by car to Windermere lake
We loved everything about the hotel, all the staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was 10/10 the entrance hall with open fire was very welcoming, the massage and facial by Sharon was 10/10 and very relaxing.
The location and the grounds and views 10/10.
Evening meal, drinks and breakfast really good and reasonably priced. Swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi good for chilling out and the hotel provided plenty of towels. The gardens were gorgeous and had plenty of room for us to walk our dog.
Food was good. Good views of the gardens whilst dining. Lovely open fire in reception/lounge area. Helpful staff. Gardens were lovely. Quirky hotel on different levels. Leisure facilities were small but clean and adequate.
The breakfast was lovely and high quality and the staff were all very friendly, especially with our little girl. There were tea and coffee making facilities in room and the hotel is in a very lovely location
