A town which has seen better days.

A town which has seen better days. Still excellent rail links, nice station. Town itself too run down like a lot of northern towns and cities. Needs investments and quality shops to to give it visitor appeal. I personally didn't feel particularly safe walking around. I couldn't find a restaurant or public house to meet my simple requirements.

Had bacon bap in the Claret Jug bar with coffee before playing our round of golf. I was able to get mine in foil so I could take it with me. Nothing too much trouble (thanks Steph!) Got drinks after 9 holes in plastic glasses so we could take them on the buggy with us - fab! Breakfast following morning was plentiful with lots of choice. Great coffee machine. We had our evening meal at The Broughton restaurant nearby which was fantastic. Hotel is situated minutes off the M6 so easy to get to.

The Crewe Lyseum Theatre is great.

The Crewe Lyseum Theatre is great. Crewe town centre is suffering, like so many others. We enjoyed the relaxed Crewe Market Hall for food and drink. Parking is good and mostly free on the weekend. Giovanni's Italian is well worth a visit.

There was very little night life in Crewe.

There was very little night life in Crewe. Most of the pubs in the town centre were either temporarily or permantly closed, as were some of the hotels. We found some nice restaurants. Apart from that we were busy during the day so didn't get any time to experience the nature trails of museums.

My fiancé was born near crewe and we have many family ties there so we always love going to visit. It's so relaxed and there's so many beautiful areas to visit. Food and drink is so much cheaper than London, highly recommend The horseshoe on north street for a drink and entertainment on a Saturday night, The woodside is a cheap and cheerful pub for food and huge play area for kids, and the rising sun at Wistaston if you prefer something more special. We also highly recommend Snugburys ice cream parlour and farm in Nantwich. Amazing flavours and all homemade.

We chose to stay in Crewe overnight whilst watching a show at the Lyceum Theatre. The house was a 3 minute direct walk from the train station. I was contacted by the owner before arrival to understand accessing the key. The house was lovely and warm when we arrived. Spotlessly clean. TV and Wi-Fi available and bonus breakfast goodies to boot which we were not expecting. It really was a lovely stay and amazing value for money.

The location was immediate with Crewe town centre, and a half a mile from the railway station, which was fine, as i saw neither taxis no buses in the deeply depressed area of town. I paid under £40 a night, which was perfectly all right for accommodation very like a Universty hall of residence(and hence familiar to me). Also the small family run Polish restaurant right next door is excellent
