The Three Tuns, hotel in Chepstow

Dating back to the 1600s, The Three Tuns is set overlooking Chepstow Castle.

Historic building well updated. Comfortable and clean. Very friendly staff. Great breakfast choice. I had room 4 which is ground floor, has its own front door and includes a kitchenette. Location is good. Right next to the castle. 2 min walk from river front and river front eateries. Large long stay car park next door.

I thought Chepstow was absolutely charming.

I thought Chepstow was absolutely charming. As a single female it isn’t easy to travel alone but I ate down on the river front and talked to a few local people who were very friendly. There were plenty of nice restaurants to chose from and the town appeared clean and well looked after. Unfortunately I had didn’t have enough time to look at the Castle and I look forward to coming back again. The weather was also fabulous!

Chepstow is a very nice town on the river. 2 Great restaurants a short walk from the pub. And A large pub with outside seating overlooking the river. Museum was excellent. The castle is amazing and the Priory Church is well worth a visit too.

Pretty place with lots of eateries and pubs and the castle is nice and the riverside. I went last weekend and there was a band on in the band stand next the river and it was a great turn and a lovely vibe. The people are very friendly.

We were there mainly for the Roman sites just outside Chepstow. Caerleon and Caerwent these are amazing for history lovers. The gardens and grottoes at Dewstow were a revelation we had a marvellous time there.

The castle and architecture, particularly at that end of town, is nice and the setting lovely. Tintern Abbey is a 6 mile bus ride away and well worth seeing. Unfortunately, you can't walk along the River Wye to it; the designated walk takes you well away from the river on both banks, though this is somewhat due to sheer cliffs! Not much else to see and do in the immediate area and no Sunday buses, so a better midweek break or day trip than a weekend break for non-drivers like myself. I go for the Chepstow Wassail and Mari Lwyd event on a Saturday in January and tend to stop off elsewhere on the route home on the Sunday because there's no way to get anywhere locally.

Hotel is located at the top of the hill above Chepstow on the main road to Gloucester but my room was quiet. The room was a good size and immaculately clean, everything worked. The adjacent restaurant was large and had a very good menu selection. Breakfast could either be Continental or full English of your choice.

Location was good for my visit and it is very close to the town centre, with a public car park just across the road. For breakfast I requested a toasted bacon sandwich, which the lady willingly made for me, even though I was 20 minutes earlier than breakfast servings stArted.

The location in a quiet cul-de-sac was just right for us on this occasion. It's maybe a 15 minute walk down into the town centre. Chepstow itself has quite a lot of charm and history, plus a big Tesco.
